Long Bay Beach Resort & Villas, sounds wonderful, our stay was less than wonderful. Don't get us wrong, Tortola is a beautiful island, lush and green, mountainous. You really do need a car, very hilly, there’s no public transport and cabs can work out expensive. Word of warning, don’t take sterling travellers cheques; only US$ travellers cheques accepted here. Visited between 3rd Sept 2008 and 17th Sept 2008. Tortola is a really beautiful island, lush, mountainous with amazing bays and coves with white, fine sand beaches and clear blue waters. We just recently returned from Long Bay in Tortola and had a wonderful time. The beach is amazing (book a Beachfront room so you can hear the waves at night) we found the staff fine and very helpful – although sometimes we had to be the first to smile –which is normal in Caribbean.
