Cleeve Hill Hotel

5 of 5 stars
LONDON
Nov 18, 2008

We stayed at the Cleeve Hill in October 08 and had a really relaxing and enjoyable time. Our room was beautifually presented and had a very homely feel about it. We had a double room at the front of the hotel which had a great view from our window overlooking the hills. We used the hotel as a base to... more

Staddlestones B&B

5 of 5 stars
chelmsford, essex u.k.
Nov 18, 2008

We stayed at Staddlestones for two nights to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and were so pleased we chose this B & B. What a lovely house this is and our room was delightful with a nice comfy bed, flat screen t.v. and lots of dvds to choose from. Everything was spotlessly clean (top of the list for me) with... more

A favourite B&B This B&B is a very relaxed, very friendly a house with wonderful modern furniture, a superb setting, and an extremely switched-on designer owner. I really enjoyed staying there and have recommended it to all my friends. more

Noel Arms Hotel

Stafford
Nov 18, 2008

Recently decided on a Friday evening that we fancied Caminettos Italian in Chipping Campden for Saturday night and, having had a drink at the Noel on a previous visit to CC, decided to give them a call. We were impressed that they were able to fit us in at such short notice especially as there was a meeting at Cheltenham... more

Nov 17, 2008

Stayed here for the racing weekend found the hotel very rundown, the rooms needs to be updated and the shower unit is so outdated it did not even work so I had a bath in a very small dirty looking bath with alot of water leaks showing through the ceiling . We booked a meal 8.00 but the menu was... more

YHA Stow-on-the-Wold

Saarbrücken
Nov 17, 2008

I have stayed at this hostel for about 18 years now. The atmosphere is fantastic. Stow is a nice, old town/village. In Stow-on-the Wold you can have a pint of beer in Englands oldest inn!! The YHA Hostel is a bit old and needs some maintenance. The furnitur should be replaced. But I love this place very much. The staff... more

Cotswold House

Nov 17, 2008

I think the term boutique hotel is overused. The rule seems to be, if you have less than 50 rooms and the lobby is full of scented candles then the name rings true. A gorgeous english country town, a lovely garden. Downside, lack of any facilities, there literally is nothing, essentially a bedroom. Inside the bedrooms which are well appointed... more

No. 12

Melbourne
Nov 17, 2008

We arrived, exhausted after our drive from London to be greeted by Sarah who briskly whisked us up to our room and let us relax while her husband kindly re-parked our car. The room was overlooking the street, and absolutely enormous! It was tastefully decorated with beautiful furnishings and neutral tones, with a lovely king sleigh bed, antique furniture and... more

Horse & Groom

Nov 17, 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Horse and Groom for two nights during a tour of the Cotswolds. It's actually in Bourton-on-the-Hill, which is a charming and very picturesque village, but there is truly nothing there except for the H&G and a gas station just up the road. Our stay was very nice and we had no real problems.... more

Le Champignon Sauvage

5 of 5 stars
Newcastle upon Tyne
Nov 17, 2008

Consistently excellent. We had a superb lunch, very good value for the quality of the food. The wine list is well-chosen, with a number of half-bottles Deserves its 2 stars and its 8/10 in the GFG. We found the decor disjointed but went for the food and not the design and were not disappointed. more

No.5 North Street

This place richly deserves its Michelin Star and its Good Food Guide entry. Wonderfully well-judged imaginative food. A well-chosen wine list. We were the only two diners on a cold, wet November evening (two other parties had apparently cancelled) but were made to feel very welcome and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I can think of nothing to fault. Excellent... more

Monty's Brasserie

Nov 17, 2008

Cheltenham is my nearest town (10 miles) and I regularly eat out at this and a number of other venues. For some time now Monty's has consistently served the best food and always with the highest standards of service. A relaxed but smart restaurant serving some of the best food in Cheltenham - add to favorites! more

The Downfield Hotel

Nov 17, 2008

In these days of economic uncertainty, I can almost forgive the truly horrendous decor, the all-pervading smell of chip fat, blankets the texture of loft insulation and dribbly shower, but my suggestion to the man who served us breakfast as to how you might conceivably remain in business, is to close the door of the toilet when you urinate (loudly)... more

Eight Bells

Nov 16, 2008

We had booked to eat at and to stay at the Eight Bells, Chipping Campden. We stayed in room number one. The best thing about the room was that it was spacious and warm. The decor lacked charm and was not to our taste but at least the room was clean. However, we were disturbed during the evening, during the... more

Three Ways House Hotel

Nov 16, 2008

My partner and I stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights. Our experience was not that as stated in a previous review with regard to cleanliness - the Hotel appeared to be very clean throughout. Our "superior" room was a good size and the bathroom was much better than many we have experienced, both as far as size is concerned... more

superb hotel, particularly the decadent SEZINCOTE SUITE......centrepiece is the HUGE marble oval bath, which is like a mini swimming pool, with feature lighting, ...........fabulous staff, divine food with a french bias, child friendly and a babysitting service availible which i would not hesitate to recommend. Beautiful gardens at the back of the hotel, and cottages availible too. highly recommended! more

Nov 16, 2008

Stayed end of august , 3 nights for our wedding anniversary. Got the "brochure room" in the main house with 16th century fireplace and view over croquet lawn. Clean comfortable 4 poster bed etc and "luxury" bathroom everything we expected. Room service breakfast was good more or less complete (as usual in England odd bits missing) Restaurant service was hit... more

Hotel Du Vin

Nov 16, 2008

The food is over priced. The service is hit or miss. On my last visit the service was terrible and the quality of the food was dreadful. I orderd a goats cheese and beetroot starter which was pleasant enough but the rib eye steak to follow was very disappoininting. The meat was fatty and undercooked. The presentation was weak and... more

The Ormond at Tetbury

Nov 16, 2008

When I arrived by taxi, found the lovely proprietor Ian at the door to welcome me, who also offered to take my bag up to my room with a huge smile. Loved the coloured walls & original artwork throughout. Dinner was delicious and my six-year-old niece was automatically given a children's menu sheet designed to be coloured in & pail... more
