The Manor Hotel

We booked as we were attending a wedding at the venue. We tried contacting the hotel by email at first, but didn't receive a reply. When we booked by telephone we were told one rate, but then charged another at the hotel, hence why I advise getting the rate in writing. When i tried to query this, the manager was... more

Arrival did not bode well after we had found somewhere to squeeze the car. When receptionist finally condescended to look up it was if she felt we were something the cat had dragged in. Er excuse me, this is Wales, it rains - soggy jeans, wax jackets and wet shoes cannot be unusual on the part of arriving guests. Other... more

The Dragon Hotel

Stayed here for 1 night in August. I have stayed in the past but not for a couple of years. The room was nice and clean and teh free mini bottle of sherry always goes down well. What I was let down by this time was the staff. You felt like they were doing you a favour by allowing you... more

Gliffaes Country House Hotel

Nov 16, 2008

Booked the Gliffaes for 2 nights stay one month in advance, as a break for my wife and I, to allow us to relax, take in the neighbouring countryside and do a bit of walking. As we travelled there on the Friday afternoon, we were both really looking forward to it, especially as our son and his wife had decided... more

My partner whisked me away for a romantic night away for by birthday. It was fantastic - the best getaway in Wales so far. Mary Ann is a fantastic chef. The food was amazing and of a very high quality - deserving of their 3 rosettes. I was impressed with the focus on using local producers. We opted for the... more

Having a busy life style and having not been away for a year or so and having recently purchased a Jack Russell, i was looking on the internet for somewhere to go for a mid-week break. I came across Craig Y Nos, whereby the price and the history of the place took my eye and it allowed dogs as well.... more

I found Bryncelyn guesthouse very comfortable to stay in. Rooms newly decorated and exceptionally clean with all required facilities available - hairdryer, tea making etc.. The owners Lil & Malcolm were very welcoming and made our stay a pleasure. Would recommend this guesthouse to all and I will stay there again. more

One of the best vacations I've had in years. I can't say I was expecting too much, and on the winding way through the Brecon Beacons I thought 'this had better be worth it'. Thank heaven, it was an absolute treat! The welcome was effusive, the bar was cosy and friendly, a homely mix of locals and guests, all easy... more

Porthmawr Country House

A lovely guest house with just six very comfortable, stylish and reasonably priced rooms. Conveniently located just a two minute walk from the village of Crickhowell. The house itself has a fascinating history and has been beautifuly restored. The owners, Justin and Simone, are extremely accommodating particularly as we had both a small baby and elderly relatives wth us. Enjoyed... more

Nov 11, 2008

I stayed at The Metropole a total of 3 weeks over September and October on business. The 1st week was originally booked for a double room, which when i got up there was a twin but as it was late I stayed in the room that night, I didn't get a good night's sleep as the shower was dripping all... more

Lake Vyrnwy Hotel

Nov 11, 2008

Very promising from the website and brochure, but I knew something might not be right when nobody answered the phone when I tried to ring. I booked, and found the setting magical. The room was very tired, in fact the bathroom was so disgusting that I prefered to use the toilet at the petrol station down the road. The food... more

Llangoed Hall

Nov 11, 2008

My husband and I stayed for a night at Llangoed Hall at the end of October. The room we had was ok- but there were a number of issues which we had to point out to the manger- which taking into account the price of the room should certainly not have arisen.--The carpet was badly in need of cleaning as... more

Don't be misled by the three stars, this hotel is fabulous in every aspect, from the luxurious rooms and delectable restaurant menu, to the helpful staff and friendly dogs. The spa is an added bonus complete with a gym, sauna and fantastic pool. Afternoon teas served in the drawing room are a real treat, whether like me you can't resist... more

I am giving this place 3 stars because 3 stars according to tripadvisor means "neutral" and that is how I feel about this place. After reading the great reviews here, I decided to make a booking for next summer. After some correspondence with them, I got the booking for two rooms confirmed (next August). However, a couple weeks after this,... more

We first visited "The Lake" some twenty years ago and have been back more than once, most recently this week. On every occasion, we have received the warmest of welcomes by the charming owners and their staff. Every room we have occupied has been spacious, comfortable and perfectly furnished and prepared. The public rooms are warm, relaxing and offer lovely... more

Haven't stayed at the hotel, only been there for meetings. Never again. Don't think they know what a vaccuum cleaner is, the carpet is always dirty. The meals were served up by some man in a dirty looking coat. No heating on, despite it being a cold day. more
