The items on display here are priceless, but I soon learned that a Saturday afternoon in the middle of summer is not the best time to visit the Air and Space Museum. Admission here is free and an endless line of tour buses unload their passengers at the front door. The museum was very crowded and overcrowded. It seemed like... more

Great if you love planes and space. I remember going a couple times when I was younger and loving it, but I didn't find it that great when I went this time. We wanted to see the artifacts from the American History Museum, but they were no where to be found. I think we spent only 20 mins in this... more

I am spending the summer in DC, and this gives me ample time to visit all the museums on the national mall. Since I was a kid I have always been intrigued by air and space exploration, this museum however was a huge disappointment. My biggest problem is that the museum has a collection of some of the greatest objects... more

With the number of museums in DC, we didn't originally intend on visiting the Air and Space Musuem, but ended up making the trip because a portion of the American History exhibit was under display there (since the American History Mus. was under renovation). I loved the Air and Space Musuem - a great variety of exhibits - things were... more

This museum didnt not rise up to all the pomp and circumstance that we have read and heard about. Its like a smaller version of NASA in Florida. If you have been to NASA , it will not be as exciting as to other people. We did attend the Adrenaline Rush Imax show which was good but nothing to write... more

I'm a big space fan, and I was looking forward to visiting the Air and Space Museum. However, I was a disappointed with the displays. I felt there wasn't enough space artifacts. I don't know a lot about historic aircraft...but I did know a few of them. I just felt like I didn't know enough about everything to really enjoy... more

Yes, its crowded. Yes, its old. Yes, its a must see/do attraction. This place is just amazing. Remember its FREE!! There is so much history and education here that I can't imagine going to DC and not seeing this place. What a wonderful chance we have to see priceless artifacts for free. You can complain about the crowds or you... more

My 11 year-old son and I recently visited Washington D.C. and our visit to the Air & Space Museum was a highlight of the trip. Allow me to say that we are both very interested in the Space program - we went to Kennedy Space Center earlier this year, so we are not the "typical" tourist for Air & Space.... more

As a certified plane-nut, this museum is nice, but not special. Yes, they have the first airplane, the Wright Flyer...but do they tell you that the Wright Brothers way of flying (wing-warping) was flawed and the development of ailerons by Alexander Graham Bell, Glenn Curtiss and their scientific team is what we still use today? Nope. They have the Spirit... more

We just returned from a DC trip at Spring Break, with 2 boys ages 8 and 10. I heartily recommend that you make a beeline, as soon as the museum opens, for the Flight Simulator. There are two options: pick the one that allows you to control the simulator yourself. The simulator can turn and roll, and even go upside... more
