Such a gem was saved, thankfully and I am grateful to have been allowed to tour the home and grounds, such history and to still have the Soldier's home in use just helped drive home the reality of our living history! Our guide was great! (sorry I do not know her name) We were very impressed by the multimedia experience... more

This place is very interesting and historical! They give guests a guided tour through the house telling stories and recounting some of the tales from the era. However, they do not know what the inside of the house looked like back then so for now it is mostly empty (except for a few token pieces). I love Civil War history... more

I believe I am still dumb struck from our visit to the Lincoln Cottage at the Old Soldier's home. I touched the fireplace mantle that Lincoln leaned on and walked the same creaking stairs that he walked, I saw the sunlight dance on the porch where he liked to play checkers in the evening, I heard his words echo through... more
