We recently spent the morning here being shown how to cook Gumbo, Jumbalaya, Bread Pudding and Pralines. The cook, Michael, was very entertaining, and beside telling us the history of some of the recipes also gave us a lot of background info on NO. We sampled all 4 dishes, and this was more than enough for lunch. Coffee and iced... more

Don't go here expecting to learn advanced cuisine...think more along the lines of hanging out in the kitchen of a good friend from NOLA- who happens to be a great, down-home southern cook! Our chef was "Big" Kevin (who said, "you can't trust a skinny cook") and he was fantastic- humorous, skilled, friendly and clearly enjoyed his job. Definitely try... more

My husband and I attended a class while on our first trip to NOLA. At first we were dissapointed that we would not be the ones doing the cooking. However, the chef instructing was great and not only did we learn a lot about how to make creole food. But, we also learned a ton of history. The food was... more

Let me start by saying that I am an avid cook and I have researched, and experimented with all types of cuisnes. I found this a total bore. I was traveling with my mother and she really enjoyed this presentation but I found it a major waste of $25. Our "chef" talked for 40 min about how New Orleans was... more

My wife and I attended the class on 05/23, and our instructor was Barbara Anne. We both almost decided not to go thinking 2 1/2 hours and 27 dollars for sample cups of what we could get just about anywhere in the city wasnt going to be worth it. We decided, what the hell and went anyway's, and we are... more

I will go back to New Orleans just for this place. You will be amazed at what you learn and the food you get to eat. This place treats you like family and everybody is made to feel at home. You don't actually cook here but you watch the instructor big Kev do everything step by step. He is so... more

We attended the New Orleans School of Cooking in early March 2008. We found a $3 off coupon in one of the many tourist maps/brochures from our hotel. Barbara was our cook and she gave us the history of New Orleans - its people and food. It was a great way for us to understand how cajaun cooking evolved .... more

My friend and I went here the morning after we arrived in NO. I would say it was one of the best things I did on vacation. We learned to make chicken gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding, and pralines. Everything was delicious. We got to sample good size portions of everything at the end of the class. The kitchen and dining... more

I did the NOSC 12/29/06 - excellent program overall, great presentation, lots of fun, and a full meal that was delicious! You can also do a more personal hands-on class. They are also about to install new counters and equipment and I think they are expanding to larger facilities upstairs from the current class location. Jenn-Aire is providing equipment and... more

Thanks to all the previous reviews we took the class on April 11, 2008. My husband is not a cook and gets bored if he is not in motion. Even he enjoyed the whole experience. Barbara, our instructor/chef was full of knowledge and very entertaining. The food was delicious and the experience was worth the $ spent. Instead of roaming... more
