I do wonder if some of the reviewers were staying in a different hotel to us! We didn't find any accommodation the resembled prefabricated huts or anything like it, I was a bit concerned when I read those reviews! The cement factory was visible from our room at night in the distance because of the illumination, but in daylight only... more

We just returned from a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel and were delighted that we made the choice despite strange negative comments on tripadvisor. It certainly wasn't smelly, and is quite some way from the cement factory. Perhaps a little dark but not unbearably so. The staff are enomously solicitous and friendly and one comes away with the... more

We were concerned having booked the hotel and then read the reviews from people about the cement factory next door. I can only assume these people have vast estates and that is how close their neighbours are as it is at least 3/4 of a mile from the hotel, not visible from any room nor does one here any noise!... more

The rooms are situated in a new, tasteless, prefab building with low ceilings & no air. Rooms are not clean & smelly but the view is beautiful. The restaurant is overpriced & not that good as they write. The conclusion: rather frustrating experience then a joy! more

This hotel is a gem! We chose it because it offered half board and we were staying a Monday night - not many restaurants open on Mondays. What a lucky find! The situation is wonderful - even on a drizzly November morning the view from our window was amazing. All rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard -... more

This is a little gem of a hotel we could not believe the price of a double room( a bargain) . Hotel is in lovely quiet setting right on the river. We arrived on a Sunday and the restaurant was very busy always a good sign, so we booked in for dinner which was excellent value and quality, breakfast was... more

Easy enough to find considering other reviews. Bascially fine but fundamentally lacking any atmosphere. Very dimly lit corridors. Restaurant similarly lacking in atmosphere - food okay but nothing to get excited about. Best part of the stay was an excellent Sancerre. Breakfast really was a bit pathetic considering the rate. more

The refurbishment was totally complete and done to a very high standard, with a contempory feel compilmenting the ancient features of the old water mill. The food was to a very high standard indeed, as was the service.Although we arrived after nine, the restaurant stayed open and we were not rushed at all, it being quite late by the time 'Strawberry... more

Indeed new owners. But remarkable ones!! Indeed some paint smell. But it looks much better now!! And it did not frighten the birds. Great place in the middle of nowhere (not really), at and on(!) a small streaming water, fully refurbished and with the new owners ready to make it. Be part of that and try for yourself and enjoy... more
