Wow--this was the nicest castle hotel I've ever stayed in. I loved the details of the room, including homebaked cookies in a cookie jar. We also received a free upgrade upon check-in and was greeted with superb service. The room was fantastic, very spacious, big tv, and 2 desks. Even the waiter in the bar below was extremely friendly, offering... more

My husband and I stayed at Glenlo Abbey last weekend for one night and we loved it. From the moment we arrived all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We received a room upgrade which was overlooking the Pullman Restaurant. The room was large, comfortable and spotless with a huge bed, comfortable couch, robes and slippers. We loved... more

We stayed in Glenlo Abbey from Boxing Day 2007 for 2 nights, and the reason we wnt there was because we had builder at home who left us with half finished bathroom, and we didn't want a miserable week at home surrounded by builder rubble. We chose Glenlo as we wanted a luxury, special place and I am baffled by... more

My wife and I thought this place was wonderful. We only stayed one night, but loved the ambiance, staff, and food. Several personnel went out of their way to make our stay more interesting or comfortable. Our spacious room overlooked the "garden" and the Abbey in the morning sun. Loved the food at the restaurant/bar downstairs, and the five-star breakfast... more

Breakfast is to die for and one of our main reasons for returning. the breakfast room is so relaxing. You will not be disappointed if you... more

I am usually a big fan of the SLH brand (Small Luxury Hotels of the World) and I did not hesitate to book one night at the Glenlo Abbey Hotel when my friend and I decided to visit the beautiful Connemara region earlier this month. Quite frankly, there is absolutely NO WAY that this place deserves its 5 stars rating... more

We have just returned from staying four nights at this wonderful hotel. The Hotel hosted my friends wedding. The staff went out of there way to help. Just phone zero and tea or coffee arrive for the cookies (24 hours a day). The food was a of a high standard and children were well looked after. Anything they wanted was... more

We were invited to a friends wedding at the Glenlo and stayed for two nights. The food was well prepared and of high quality. The staff in particular make this hotel a great place to stay. They are friendly, professional and helpful. They always seem to be happy! The wedding went without a hitch and this hotel is an ideal... more

I found this hotel a little disappointing. I have passed it many times on my way to Clifden and thought it looked great...from a distance. While it was not a dreadful experience, it was pretty bad and doesn't come close to matching up to its five star rating. In fact, I wonder when was the last time that Bord Failte... more

I have no idea how anyone can rate this as a 5 star hotel, I would say 3 at most. The rooms are shabby and dated, the bar has absolutely no atmosphere and the food in the Pullman restaurant was below average and over priced. I noticed that a number of comments in the book at reception were erased. I... more
