We stayed here 3 nights as the other hotels with Thomas Cook were full. It is a very nice old building with plenty of history but is smelly, very old furniture and bathrooms, dirty in the food areas and the breakfast and food was awful. We had a meal in the main a la carte restaurant spent 100 CUCs and... more

Two things to get clear before going to Cuba firstly Cuban 5* is not an international 5* and secondly Cuban food is poor and limited (meat with rice and beans or a speciality which is … meat with rice and beans) – so lower your expectations before you arrive then relax and look on the bright side as you probably... more

If you want to stay close to 5 Star i would stay at the Hotel Nacional however i would only stay at one of the executive rooms which cost around $US200 a night, the food is better, there is internet access and the staff look after you better, there seemed to be mostly English and Canadians in the exec rooms.... more

This hotel is above all about the feel. Everybody talks about it. It is probably the most well known hotels in Havana. If you have never been to Havana be aware that it is not located in Old Havana. However the hotel has a kind of garden area overlooking the ocean and looking onto the whole length of the city.... more

A very unfriendly hotel with staff who were extremely rude and so ignorant. They tried on numerous occasions to make me pay twice for the accommodation to the point where they locked me out of the room. Also had to move rooms the 1st night because there was no hot water and a horrendous noise from the plumbing. To cap... more

The Nacional is beyond doubt the most famous hotel in Cuba, with many famous guests having stayed here over the years. it is a five star hotel , but don't expect a five star by European or US standards. As the hotel is old, the rooms are small and dated, and the facilities are not what you'd expect from a... more

Hotel Nacional is worth a visit, even if you're not staying there. They do tours 2 or 3 times a day (ask at the information desk for times) explaining the history of the hotel and its famous former guests. Definitely look for good online deals when booking Cuban hotels. Travel agents in Cuba seem incapable of getting a good price,... more

I went here on my honeymoon and LOVED the beauty of the hotel, the grounds and the location. We enjoyed the historic Havana tour as well as the day trip to Pinar del Rio. HOWEVER, I would not recommend staying in the Hotel Nacional as the rooms were dank and mouldy. I recommend staying at a nearby hotel and spending... more

Stayed here from 11th sept for 3 nights when we arrived we was taken aback by the splendour of this hotel. We only stayed b&b but eat the rest of our meals here, we couldnt complain about anything the restaurant in the garden is small and cosy i would go to say romantic. The birds in the cages are well... more
