We spent the first two nights here at the start of a 2 week touring holiday in Cuba - staying at 5 hotels in all. We spent the first hour of our time at the Inglaterre on the second floor balcony - this one (opposite the central walkway of the park) probably the best situated in any of the hotels... more

I have to say the Inglaterra lives upto many of the poor reviews. Yes, it is the oldest hotel in Havana and the public areas are grand in a historic rather than opulent sense. However you don't (normally) sleep in the lobby. I was checked into a room in the centre of the hotel which was dark and dingy. there... more

Stayed here recently for 3 nights, the best thing about the hotel is the location. Most of the attractions are within walking distance and Floridita's, the best bar in cuba is just 2-3 min walk away. Although the walls and the tiling needed a bit of work, otherwise the rooms were clean. We had a room with a balcony overlooking... more

I was a little bit leery booking this hotel after reading some of the reviews for the Inlaterra. However, when we got there the check in was friendly, fast and hassle free. I booked on the internet and prepaid, so when we checked out all we had to pay for was whatever we used from the mini bar. The room... more

We stayed one night at the Inglaterra, the final night of our holiday, having been booked in four the first four nights too, but were sent to the Plaza as they said they had problems with the water supply on one floor, so couldn’t fit us in. (We met a couple who had been told this about a different hotel... more

Before I start my review, please allow me to say that I would not class myself as particularly fussy. Clean room & helpful staff are all that I was hoping for in Havana. Stayed at the Inglaterra for 3 nights, and to be quite honest, while I enjoyed Havana immensely as a city, I could not wait to get out... more

Allowing for the fact that this is Havana the standards of this hotel are not good at all. "Okay but some problems" is being generous. The bedrooms are shabby. The shower dreadful and...dirty sheets complete with pubic hairs on the beds!!! According to DK Eyewitness Travel (2007) "the interior is a model of elegant austerity, particularly in the large restaurant... more

The Hotel Inglaterra has dominated the Parque Central in Havana since 1875, and remains a useful option for the budget traveller to Cuba. Its location on the edge of Old Havana (Havana Vieja) is excellent, with many tourist sights within easy walking distance. Most other hotels, in Vedado or Miramar, are in more pleasant areas, but attractions are a taxi... more

Stayed via a trip by 1st Choice to Havana for 1 night. Our first room had no window! We immediately went back to reception and moved to a much better room one floor higher over the street which flanked it with a balcony. It is the hotel, even mentioned in the classic film "Our man in Havana" ( nasty man... more

We stayed at the Hotel Inglaterra for one night, before moving over to the Parque Central (as the PC was full). Booking over the internet was easy, and check in fairly efficient. I had requested a higher floor room with a balcony and this was granted. The room was a reasonable size, and I'd class it as western 2/3 star.... more
