Spent a couple of nights here to wrap up our annual dive trip to DR. What a fantastic spot. Location could not be better since the hotel sits on one corner of Parque Colon within walking distance of all the sights in the Zona Colonial and at the end of one of the city's main shopping areas. You can't beat the location. The Conde de Penalba sits smack on the Calle El Conde (the city's most famous shopping street) and overlooks the Parque Colon, home of the Columbus statue and the old cathedral (Catedral de Santa María la Menor). Really nice, comfortable rooms, there is a balcony outside that you can enjoy. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs and also a bar. You can eat outside or inside. The food was good. There are shops across the street that you can go to. Went to a wedding over there. This is the place that was recommended from the people... more
