We stayed at the Avalon Baccara Sept 3 -7, 2006. It is a small, intimate hotel and the staff is very pleasant. Upon our arrival, there was a small mishap with the room. We had reserved the one-bedroom suite, but was put in a studio. The studio was okay. It had two twin beds and a small kitchen/dining area. Not... more

I'm not even sure where to begin. After reading some of the negative reviews, I almost switched hotels. I am unbelievably glad that I stuck with Baccarra! If you want a white walled, cookie cutter property....than do not stay here. The Baccarra is one in a million. Everything down to the architecture, paint colors and amazing service. If you want... more

This hotel is not for everyone. After reading the reviews its clear that some people just don't get it. We loved staying at a small hotel where the beach and pool area wasn't mobbed by people. The staff was very polite and helpful, the breakfasts were great (nice little blvd outdoor eating area), the pool bar had good food and... more

We stayed 4 nights at the Avalon Baccara in late April 2008. First off, I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Bacarra, its colorful charm, and the feeling like we had the hotel to ourselves. Having stayed at some of the chains and larger resorts, we liked not having to get up at 6:30 to save a chair or the... more

My girlfriend and I spent 6days/five nights at this hotel. We both thought it was great. If your looking for a quaint place to stay then this is it. Very peaceful and quiet. This is our third trip to Cancun, first at the Baccara. We chose the Avalon Baccara after finding a deal on the net and also checking Trip Advisor.... more

We thought we did our research, we read reviews, looked at pictures, compared location and price but....we picked the WRONG one! Some will say it's quaint, has charm, is romantic but we didn't experience any of that. Our room was in the back facing the driveway with a balcony that had a view of the same, it smelled of fresh... more

We booked two adjoining suites for us and our children. We ended up in one ROOM (instead of the suite we paid for) 2 stories higher than our children suite. We tried to change it and were told after many tries that Expedia was the one who promised us those rooms and they didn't have to honor it. The people... more

First of all - if you have ANY problems with disabilities or moving up and down steps this is not the place for you - simply because there are MANY steps to get to everything - to the lobby, to the rooms, to the pool ect. and there is not an elevator. If you do not have any problems you... more

I booked a night at the Avalon Baccara because we were finishing up a long tour around Yucatan and were flying out of Cancun the next day. After driving past a number of sprawling, new monster hotels from the south, I was pleasantly surprised to arrive at Avalon Baccara on km 11 of the Zona Hoteleria. It had a lot... more

We arrived at the crack of dawn and were able to check in immediately which was great. Rooms were just fine. Nothing fancy but we didn't expect them to be. The bathroom was almost like a separate room it was so huge! No romantic view either but we didn't go to Cancun to sit, staring out of our hotel window.... more
