The Zahra rooms and cabanas are clustered on a small property nestled between two sandy beaches. The cabanas are based on the traditional Mayan style, with thatched palm roofs, and are raised on stilts above the sandy beach. Guests can enjoy in-room spa services and room service from the restaurant, or they can venture out to the restaurant to enjoy authentic Mexican specialties and live music. more » « less

We can´t believe that we paid 210 dollars per two nights in horrible Zahara, was a nightmare, an ECO hotel not means an mediocre and extremely uncomfortable place. If we had paid 1/3 of what it really was, we wouldn’t be complaining about it. Always I read in tripadvisor about the hotel for my holidays, unfortunately I just had time... more

My girlfriend and I booked the last available room at Zahra. It was ground level and not far from the bar. We were a little worried that noise from the bar would keep us up at nights. This wasn't a problem though because everything stops at 11pm when the electricity shuts off. That's great for peace and quiet, but it... more

Your going to be out all day anyway, so dont expect a wonderful room, this is all about location and getting away. Great drinks, and great beach nearby. Take a taxi to the city for $4.00 close to Tulum, walk to nearby beach bars, we stayed in Room 10 which we thought was quite nice, however the bathtub was kinda... more

Thanks so much for taking the time to post your experience. I appreciate that you brought to our attention the cleanliness issue in the bathrooms. All rooms are supervised by the head housekeeper each day, and I apologize that you experienced problems with cleanliness. This issue has been taken up in our manager's meeting to prevent it from happening again.

Just returned from a brief stay at the Zahra and wish it had been longer. Found the cabanas charming, rustic and delightful and contrary to some of the negative reviews here, the sheets were white and clean; the beds comfortrable; the mexican ceramic sink clean as was the hewn trunk bathtub although I took showers. The electricity went off around... more

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. I apologize that you experienced problems with the curtains not fully covering the windows. This issue has been taken up in our manager's meeting so we can look into getting new curtains.

We had high expectations of Zahra and were disappointed upon our arrival. Not only did they lose one of our night’s reservations, but the room I requested was not the room I got. We reserved the Nohoch room. Upon our arrival we were placed in the Nahil room. A room with a ceiling fan that didn't work, a shower door... more

First off, I only gave Zahra two stars instead of one because of the location and the property. I absolutely loved the area and the proximity to the beach (a one minute walk from our second floor room). However, I believe that you can choose a number of other hotels with the same beach access. Where to begin? 1. There... more

Oh they take a good photo don't they? We too were sucked in by the gorgeous photos, and yes, the top floor of the deluxe suite is lovely looking. We stayed in that one (featured in all the photos) for a week, one set of in-laws stayed at the next level rooms on the beach, another set stayed in the... more

We have just returned from a week at Zahra and had a wonderful time. We stayed in Room 18, which is a Nohoch cabana. Being right on the sands of the Caribbean Sea was fabulous. Our room had two king size beds, both with nets, a small but very clean bathroom, and a small sitting area with purified water provided.... more

A friend and I spent 4 nights in Zahra and we had a wonderful time! The room was cosy and the balcony had a nice view on palm trees and ocean. Of course, do not expect any kind of luxury, you will only find the basics. The restaurant is excellent and the staff was really helpful and extremely nice. Although... more

We arrived at night after a 450 peso(4.50 usd) cab ride from the Tulum Pueblo bus station. Checked in our second floor reserved room, Nahil without a problem. Nice firm kingsize bed. We expected more rustic than we got, based on reactions from other reviews here. In fact the shower was a little rough on the edges; some chipped tiles,... more
