We choose the Best Western after reading Trip Advisor comments. The other option was the Valhalla but it was too close from the Airport. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes drive from Thunderbay but it was not a problem. There is not traffic jam in ThunderBay. It close to the main highway and also close to attractions such as Fort... more

Checked into hotel after driving for eight hours, Rooms were messed up but the staff took care of that and got us side by side rooms. The rooms were satisfactory, we were on the second floor, the carpets were tired and the hotel was showing it's age but parts were being renovated. Beds were comfortable. Doors did not block out... more

We stayed for three nights during the week this month. The hotel itself is nice, although quite dated. Front desk staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel itself is located just a couple of miles from Loch Lomond ski area, and right on the edge of the city. It was easy to find after a long day of driving.... more

I stayed with the Best Western Nor'Wester in July of 07. When I arrived, I was greeted with a very friendly staff. They accompanied my every need. The restaurant was small but very cozy. They served excellent food. The pool area was very nice too, as well as the fitness centre. Checkout was a quick process. I was very satisfied... more

I stayed two nights here for a business trip. Monday Sept 10th was great, very quiet and nice small restaurant but good food. My second night was Friday Sept 14th and I had to catch a flight early the next day so left a 4:15 am wake up call. I didn't need it. At 1:40 am a group of 6-8... more

The previous reviewer gave a great overview! This place is so much more than a "motel", with beautiful grounds. Our room was very clean, just in need of new carpet and furniture. We were on the second floor and the king bed was new and very comfy. The food in the attached restaurant was good and reasonably priced. I would... more

On a cross-Canada drive my wife and I and our small dog stayed at the Nor'Wester. As others have stated on here it is a much more "resort" type property than your typical motel. It is about a 10 min drive outside downtown Thunder Bay and backs onto a nice field with good views of the local terrain. When we... more

I decided to switch my hotel from the ValHalla to this one after reading the glowing reviews. Glad I did. As indicated, this hotel is outside the city. A 10 minute drive for me to get to the WestFort area of Thunder Bay. There is a free airport shuttle; the drive is perhaps 10 minutes as well. I had a... more
