I stayed in this hotel with colleagues from work. We arrived to a very frosty reception as due to working late we arrived after 9 o'clock and were informed that we were lucky to get checked in as reception closed at 7 (this was never stated to us) There was then a huge over reaction the next night from the... more

Prestbury House has a zero tolerance policy to smoking in non smoking bedrooms and public areas. This is not just for the legal reasons but Prestbury House has been a total non smoking site for the past three years. This was a corporate client of 3 persons booked in by a booking agency. The descovery by House Keeping that one...

We travelled to Cheltenham from London several times during the month of September 2007 and chose the Prestbury House Hotel ever time! We originally found some information about the Prestbury House Hotel online and we phoned and booked with the hotel directly. Price wise, it was very competitive, compared to the other accommodation that we looked at booking, and we never... more

During our weekend we found the facilities to be more than adequate, staff seemed nice and food lovely. Unfortunately all this changed on our return home.Unbeknown to us the hotel charged us for 3 nights stay, we should only have been charged for 2 nights, taking the money from our account without authorisation the day after we arrived. We were... more

In essence what the customer has said is correct but the cicumstances and the customers lack of knowledge about debit cards and credit cards made this not only complex but a one off. The Bride of the Reception the guest was attending, had paid for one night and the customer required two extra nights paying a deposit and giving a...

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again as it's not my cup of tea at all- far too outdated and old fashioned - a bit like staying at your grandma's! Could do with some money spent on the furnishings as nothing matched - nice TV though! The corridors smelled a little like a nursing home! Too many signs around the... more

I really am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. I think it is as you said everyone has different perceptions and tastes. The sheer contrast of the reviews on this site about Prestbury House demonstrates this. As for the "electric fence " , yes this does divide our gardens and the farmland to the rear of the hotel. It...

We stayed here a couple of weekends ago and can say without doubt it is one of the most welcoming hotels we have found. We live in Cheltenham, but after the recent floods most of us had no water. They did, so we stayed here over our wedding weekend. An oasis of tranquility amid the chaos of water bowsers and... more

Me and my husband stayed here with several members of our family and friends for just one night though I wish it has been longer! We are actually from Cheltenham anyway but as our wedding reception was held at the racecourse just down the road, we decided to stay here due to it being so close by and I'm so... more

My boyfriend took me here for my 21st birthday and I thought it was absolutely lovely. The room we stayed in (Baldot) in the main house was very spacious, and well decorated, cleaned and equipped. The breakfasts were delicious on both mornings and the staff were very helpful, friendly and cheerful. The only slight quibble I would have is the... more

Stayed 2 nights in a premiere room in the main building for a local family event. The welcome was exceptionally friendly even though 2 hours before official checkin time , and cant remember when we were last shown to our room ! The room was very spacious and clean with all the character to be expected of a 1700 listed... more

Having arranged to spend our wedding night here last year, we booked a table for 20 of our immediate family for dinner on the sunday. We visited the hotel and had a meal there approx 4 weeks before our wedding day. We made the reservation for the room and restaurant that day and followed it up with a telephone call... more

I am extremely sorry about this. I notice that although your review was registered in January 2007 the actual incident you are reporting was in December 2005. I joined the hotel in 2006 as head of a brand new team working for the new owner. I do know the past owner closed the hotel restaurant in late November 2005 having...
