Mattress was the most worn out beast I have ever slept on; "en suite" was across a public access hallway; shower didn't work; bed cover was filthy; carpets were stained; and the noise - will someone send them a plumber... more

The hotel was fully adequate for what I wanted - close to the centre of Oxford, easy access to Kings Conference Centre and with car parking. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the River Hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the English breakfast was excellent. Stayed two nights to visit the nearby said business school. The rooms are grubby, window frames crumble in your hand. Ensuite not clean and grotty. Breakfast room cramped and service slow and chaotic. Payment (not cheap) up front by cheque, presumably to minimise the number of people who would just walk away.
