Worst Hotel that I have ever stayed in. The bedding was stained and not clean, and not changed after the first night. The dirty duvet was also so small that it only covered me to my chest. The toilet seat was possibly 10 years old and cheap plasic which was also stained. If this was not bad enough, the 2... more

According to the hotel web site, This place is some olde worlde coaching inn with a wealth of character where one can relax in serene georgian surroundings whilst the world carries on at a hurried pace outside! Well this image is a greater work of fiction than the Dickens novels it alludes to! Whilst the building must at some point... more

I was booked into the George by the company I work for. The rate was 95 pounds for B&B. I was initially taken with the historic building and the reception staff seemed friendly. After walking through endless corridors (not a problem for me as my luggage was light and I am fit but others may have a problem - I... more

I stayed at this hotel for one night on a business trip. Centrally located and a lovely old building but that's where the positive experience ends! Dirty room (long black hair all over the bath), useless shower, toiletires provided extremely limited and poor quality, old fashioned fixtures and fittings. Loads of outside noise so difficult to sleep. Breakfast awful and... more

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights whilst on a course. The room was clean, but the toilet roll was like sandpaper! Went out and bought somethign softer! The breakfast in the morning was not that great, poor selection of hot food, oily hashbrowns and cold bacon. The barmiad kept trying to put ice into my pint of Newcastle... more

The George looks attractive with its central courtyard. And it is in the middle of Reading. I paid £90 for one night. The room was large and clean but was decorated in chrome and black which was a bit overpowering and seemed strange for such an old hotel. The main disappointment was that breakfast was in the bar area where... more

No car parking even though they said there was. Staff were unhelpful and made me pay immediately before seeing the room. The room smelt. I found hairs in the bathroom. The blanket on the bed also had hairs in. The walls were dirty. And the room was cold. Most horrible place I have ever stayed in. £100 per night is... more

I stayed at the George for several weeks throughout June / July in the hot summer weather. The rooms were slightly mixed - one single was very small but for a small excess I was upgraded to a double / twin room. The rooms were very warm, even in the middle if the night, particularly on the higher floors, but... more
