Stayed here on 11-11-08. Good - Rooms are small but clean. Bathrooms where not bad at all. The breakfast was ok, bit greasy but ok. Bad- Grotty entrance from the street. The staff where a combination of both rude and miserable. You can hear everything happening in the other rooms because of the paper thin walls. Which can be interesting!!... more
The main entrance to the hotel is very dark and dirty, definately not very welcoming. The rooms are small and although recently refurbished are still a bit grubby and not very clean. One of our party found an old sock lying in the room - yuch !!. The staff at breakfast were very entertaining. They decided to have a loud... more
My daughter-in-law stayed for Wednesday and Thursday last week, wanting to sample the shopping etc., Newcastle had to offer. Was a bit dubious about staying due to the last review (especially as though I had already booked!). Although the outside didn't look very inviting and immediate entrance was grubby, we were pleased with the welcome received by the young lady... more
I think it's a pretty basic requirement for a hotel to provide clean bed linen. This is a horror story that really did happen to me when I visited this city for work. I arrived late after a long train journey - I had phoned ahead to check that they would be ready for my late arrival. I had an... more
Had a great weekend stay here. Staff were very friendly, rooms had everything you needed for a short stay and had recently been refurbished. Due to the location, I'm sure you could get a bit of noise but you don't come to the Quayside to stay in your room! Would not hesitate to stay here again and thoroughly recommend it. more
I stayed in the Waterside Hotel with my partner on a Saturday night and was quite concerned because of the reviews I had read on tripadvisor. I needn't have worried as the hotel was lovely! All the rooms have now been fully refurbished so there is no danger of being put in an 'older room'. They were neutral in colour... more
Nice people, pleasant rooms, reasonable rates and good location but, unless you are a party animal and want to join in, be prepared to be kept awake into the small hours by the pounding music from "Jimmyz", the bar in the ground floor of the hotel. more
Previous reviews bear out precisely the problem with this place. It is in the process of being refurbished apparently. If you get one of the refurbished rooms you're OK. If not, the rooms aren't fit for a dog. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of staying here first find out which of the above they are being offered. We... more
It was with some trepidation that I checked into the Watersie Hotel after being told by a friend who had wlaked out of there some weeks earlier, that the rooms were absolutely filthy. We checked in very late and were shown in to a newly decorated room with flat screen tv, very stylish furniture, a good selection of toiletries and... more
