We've now stayed in Malmaison Newcastle twice and both times it has exceeded expectation. The 1st time we had the Turbinia Suite and it was huge, the 2nd time we had a lesser suite as a certain Ms Minogue had the whole of the top floor but again although the room considerably smaller the standard was still the same. The... more

We booked in to this hotel for one night. I agree with some previous comments such as the dark reception area, must be a nightmare to work in! Our room was lovely. It was a good size with everything we would need except for biscuits and a hairdryer! We had dinner in the restaurant and unlike other reviewers we had... more

We booked a great deal direct with their website, which was B&B, dinner and glass of wine for £99/room. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is lovely and clean, if a little dark in decoration. However just a couple of points. When we arrived we were told our room was not quite ready and would be about 30-40... more

Because a relative had booked this on our behalf I had no expectations one way or the other. But what a very pleasant surprise. The staff understand how to give excellent service without any servility or fakeness in the process. The room was wonderful - excellent space, great views, beautiful linen, fantastic furniture, soooooo clean, great bathroom and the best... more

stayed for two nights end of september to drop our son off at newcastle university - along with many other parents! It was our first visit to newcastle and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is in a lovely position overlooking the tyne although a 10 15 minute walk into the centre which was tiring for me with a sprained foot.... more

Booked a fantastic deal at £79 for a Chateau Suite which was good in itself - got to reception where the staff were very professional and welcoming - so imagine the pleasure when being offered an upgrade to a BETTER suite FOC! On top of that they have a great deal on cocktails and breakfast which is great value. The... more

Stayed here for one a Friday night when attending a concert at the Sage. Offer on Malmaison's website of Dinner, bed & breakfast £99. Room & bathroom both quite small, but clean. Considering it was weekend on Quayside also quiet. Dinner couldn't be faulted & offer included glass of wine. Loads of choice for breakfast. Found all staff to be... more

First I would like to state that all the staff were very pleasant to us throughout our stay, however, we had a catalogue of issues, and looking around us it seemed that the hotel was running on luck rather than any plan. Checked in at 2pm on Saturday, and although the room was given to us it wasn't quite ready... more

The Malmaison is in a great position , situated on the quay overlooking the Millennium bridge with views of the Tyne bridge , the whole hotel is decorated in dark purple with the reception area looking like a french brothel circa 1930 , reception were pleasant , my room (503) was on the corner with great views of both bridges... more

Needed a base for the night for a concert, went for a little city centre luxury, was not disappointed. Room was really comfortable and well appointed, we had a sixth floor standard room with superb views up the river past the bridges. The room though described as standard was better than some hotel chains' "suites". The shower is superb, to... more
