There were few redeeming qualities about this hotel experience. We travel frequently staying mainly at the Intercontinental group so we are quite familiar with the Holiday Inn Express hotels. The staff was the only positive thing about the stay. They were very kind and tried to be helpful. They called taxis for us, gave us directions and even a street... more

I was in Newcastle for a business trip, wouldn't normally use a Holiday Inn Express but needed something quickly. The staff were quite good for a budget end hotel. The room was small, very clean but I like a bath and this only had a shower - not very good for young children I don't think. Car parking was rubbish... more

I was visiting Newcastle for a conference so wasn't planning to spend too much time in the hotel - and it was just as well. The rooms are very bland, and the bed in my room wasn't particularly comfortable, with a duvet that was so thin it was like sleeping under newspaper. None of the rooms have ironing board or... more

Exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Clean, tidy, good town centre location, efficient check in and check out. Bed fine, only two pillows, but otherwise, slept well. The only two isses were the wireless facility couldn't be accessed from my room - I had to sit in the corridor outside my room to download my e-mails... more

I stayed in this hotel for two nights in April 2008, which I imagine is one night longer than most guests usually stay. Once I had managed to find the entrance to the hotel, I could not see a car park, so parked outside the doors of the hotel on what looked like a pedestrian area. I went in to... more

Stayed for 2 nights in Feb. Had a twin room with 2 single beds, both incredibly uncomfortable. Tiny bathroom with even smaller towels. Main problem - the room stunk. At some stage this must have been a smoking room as the stench of it was terrible. Even keeping the windows open all day and night (not ideal in Feb) did... more

I stayed at the express holiday inn on the 22nd / 23rd feb 08. Originally we were on our way to Amsterdam but the ferry was cancelled and a friend booked this for us over the internet. The hotel is very clean and modern. Found the staff friendly and accomodating - even though us 4 girls joined a party of... more

Spent a few nights here at the beginning of Feb. The location is excellent and as mentioned the hotel is pretty new and in good condition. The rooms are pretty small and basic but again clean. There was a problem with the booking and we were given a twin rather than a double, as the hotel was full the alternative was... more

I have stayed in this hotel very regularly since the hotel opened 2 years ago . The rooms are very clean , staff are very friendly and led by good management. The Hotel is very central , near the station , local pubs and restaurants . Breakfast is continental but lots of it . The even numbered rooms face the... more

The newest HI Express that I have stayed in recently. Efficient & well equipped, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean and not in the least "worn". The check-in staff need training and a visit to charm school! Breakfast rubbish, but you get that in all HI Expresses! more
