We stayed at The Thistle on 28/06/08 having booked it on Laterooms. The basic room price was £60 for on night for two adults with breakfast. We upgraded that to a 'Superior Room' for an extra £20 (room number 18) Having read some of the reviews our expectations weren't very high but we were pleasantly suprised when we saw our... more

This hotel is in a great location for visiting the theatre but our bedroom was old fashioned , cluttered and shabby . The evening meal was very poor, breakfast was better but the dining room along with the rest of the hotel is in need of some urgent refurbishment . I would not recommend this hotel. more

Our third stay at this hotel - booked an executive room (room 22 high up at the back, a lot of stairs but a large room and quiet which we like). Room was large - bathroom okay (small bath - okay for one but a squeeze for two - good shower). Car park was tight but at £4.00 a day... more

I was advised on booking that the hotel would be able to cater for my coeliac diease (gluten allergy). Unfortunately this was far from the case. We arrived in the resturant for breakfast at 9.30am on Saturday after an overnight stay in a room with a very noisy radiator and a cracked sink. There were no clean tables available, the... more

The Arden hotel is one of the most expensive hotels in Stratford-upon-avon, trading on the fact that it is right opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. However, the actual hotel does not justify the price. Inside it is all a bit faded. For instance, the walpaper in my room was coming off, it has been sometime since the woodwork was painted... more

Made a booking 10 days in advance with expedia, room was confirmed by Hotel the following day and fully paid for. However, on the day we were due to arrive my husband rang the hotel to upgrade our room as it was a special occasion. They said we could not upgrade as they were fully booked and that they were... more

In general the Hotel is in a nice location, although not a particularly inspiring building compared to the many others just a short walk away. I guess arriving on Christmas day and staying for just one night was always going to be tough on the Hotel in terms of meeting our expectations, they were bound to be short on staff... more

Standard Thistle town centre hotel. Nothing special in itself but right in the centre of Straford upon Avon, across the street from the main entrance to the Royal Shakespeare Company theatre. Easy walking distance to most tourist sites. Did not use the restaurant as the prices (£12.95 for breakfast) does not compete well with the local competition. Plenty of others... more

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Thistle. My husband and I travelled with our Two Granddaughters and were very pleased with the room. We booked the room through the Tourist Information and was very happy. Just little things like biscuits with the tea and coffee making etc I think makes it a little more personal. As for the staff... more

I would certainly reccomend this hotel to anyone. I stayed here for 3 night for a short break and from the moment I arrived until I departed, it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The hotel is a 3* hotel and this is understandable as it does need refurbishement as the rooms are a little dated,... more
