It's not all bad. The hotel is just beyond Broad Street, so is well located for the main drag of pubs and clubs while avoiding the risk of guests being woken by revellers throwing up at 3am. It's only about a 10 minute walk from the National Indoor Arena and not that much further again to the shopping centre and... more

Just back home from a 2 night break with 7 friends while attending an event in the NIA. Ok, firstly the Hotel is fantastic, so fantastic it does not belong in Birmingham. We found Birmingham to be dirty, very very rough, intimadating and all round awful place. The Hotel has an ideal location at the top of Broad st (main... more

I booked the marriott because of a great internet offer and was pleasantly surprised. It's not right in the city centre but it was only a short walk which felt very safe even late at night. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room wasn't huge but had everything we needed and was clean and bright. The air... more

The hotel is at the far end of Broad Street, sufficiently distant to be away from most trouble but just a walk to all the superb restaurants and other venues. However, when walking you do have to run the gaunlet of hoodies and drunks most evenings. Taxis are an inexpensive and convenient option. Broad Street can be intimidating, and the... more

We booked a weekend break at this hotel which cost £180 for two night including bed and breakfast. We arrived at about 11.00 am and had the best check in we have ever had. The receptionist was helful, informative and delightful and what is more pur room was ready for us to check into! The room (415)was very well appointed... more

Have stayed for a week in June for the last 7 years but will be looking elsewhere next year. The first room's air con wasn't working (208), they moved us without a fuss to 120. The room had obviously been renovated but was very, very dusty, the fire instruction card was missing and parts were missing from the taps. Despite... more

Although the hotel looks like it could be great, this was not its finest hour. Arriving at 1.15 pm before going to a wedding, our room was not ready and we had to change and get ready in the health club - which was far from ideal for this, being hot and steamy. Our bags were later taken to the... more

Stayed here for just one night last weekend in order to see Celine Dion at the NIA in Birmingham UK. (Fantastic night!!) Any way back to the hotel - We were very impressed that booking through Expedia got us a Deluxe room with 'stay for breakfast' for just £90. Room was a tad on the small side but very nice,... more

This used to be the Birmingham Swallow, and at the time was reputed as Birminghams only prestige hotel. Been part of the Marriott chain for many years now but its easy to see why it was viewed as Birminghams only prestige hotel as all rooms are an exceptional size which coupled with Marriotts excellent bed make this a cracking stay…but…well... more

I have stayed at the Birmingham Marriott several times on business. It is a fairly typical business hotel and appointed in standard Marriott style. It is somewhat centrally located, but just a little up Broad street from other business hotels (Hyatt, Novotel) as well as ICC, NEC, Bridley place, food, shopping, and restaurants and so is a little quieter. The... more
