Due to last minute plans i needed a hotel near to the centre of Birmingham which wasn't going to cost me a fortune so this hotel seemed perfect. I could not have been more wrong. I arrived just after 3.00pm ready to check in and continue with my plans only to be informed the room was not ready even though... more

Booked this online at their special rate of £39 for the room - what a bargain for 2 people and it includes breakfast! Reception is modern looking and there was even an ice dispenser and microwave for a cheap ready meal if thats what you want. Room was pleasant though nothing special but more than adequate and it did have... more

Surprised by the quality of this hotel. Arrived late with family of 4 plus dog, speedy check-in and all beds were made up. Room was OK, decor a bit scuffed here and there. Hotel itself was newly renovated, with a fab lobby/restaurant area. Breakfast is where the Express stands out compared to other brands. Here again it was brilliant, with... more

Our only adverse comment on arrival at 1.30pm was being advised check in was 3pm ,however when we requested to find out if the room was ready we only waited for 5 mins. Overall very impressed with room design and comfortable beds, we have stayed in many holiday inn express and would certainly recommend this one. Continental breakfast was excellent... more

Another good example of this budget hotel chain really making the effort. Room has all you need for a night or two and is located close the M5 J2 - its not the quietest of locations but not bad considering where it is. Parking in the hotel car park is free but remember to display your parking tag (given on... more

This hotel is situated outside the city centre, but a bus, which comes at regular intervals has you there in around 30 mins. the hotel itself is extremely clean, and staff are very friendly and helpful! I would definitely stay here again more

Used to stay in HIE Oldbury at least once a month but then things changed and me and my collegues have sought other places to stay: A/C units installed in Autumn 2007 make terrible noice and blow air right into your face when you are sleeping in your bed. Turning the A/C off is not tempting in the winter time... more

You don't always get what you pay for you know! I turned up at 10pm expecting to get the last room available (top floor - furthest from the reception) and got a ground floor room. The hotel is called M5 Jct 2 so you sort of expect it to be noisy, but it wasn't. The air con got the room... more

I stayed here on a Sunday night, so the place was very quiet. The hotel is fine for the type. Clean, comfortable, fairly basic. No complaints here. You get what you expect. Front desk staff were disinterested. Admin had not bothered to note my Priority Club membership. Usual HI Express "Continental Breakfast", not up to much - but as expected.... more

I have to say I was extremley disappointed with my overnight stay at this hotel, The hotel is in an extremley noisy location on two very busy roads, with the result that the traffic was still heavy at 12am and despite our room being at the rear it was still hard to sleep, the newly installed a/c in the room... more
