We stayed here for two nights in a 8 bed female dorm. The first night was awesome; we had some cool people in our room, and most people went to sleep around midnight. Those that left before we got up were quiet and respectful. The second night? Well, drunk English girls that came in at 2 and 3, ridiculously loud,... more

Rooms were very clean, sink in room, good price. It was about a 15-20 minute walk down to the temple bar area, but that was our own fault for booking late! Became friendly with the staff who we hung out with and drank some beer with. Good eclectic mix of foreign employees who were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast... more

A mixed bag really. Security was excellent, there was no way anyone not supposed to be there could get in, but more on that later! Staff were friendly, although a minor gripe on that front: Lack of knowledge about what wouldn't be operating over the Easter weekend (especially the trains). Unfortunately ended up in a ground floor male dorm (no... more

I was an American medical student in Dublin from 1999-2006 and stayed here many times since it is near one of the country's teaching hospitals, the Mater Misericordiae. It's location on Mountjoy Street places it in D7, Phibsboro, which is north of the Liffey, an undesirable place to live from around the turn of the 1900's to the late 1990's.... more

This hostel is very well situated: less than 10 min by foot from O'Connell Street which is the main street. The staff was nice and helpfull and the breakfast is included in the price. Conclusion: very good hostel for small budget. I advise it, even for families! more

We arrived in Dublin late in the evening and walked to the hostel which took about 10 mins from O'Connell Street. If you walk down Parnell Street, Parnell Square and then across Dorset Street, especially late at night, the area can seem a little dodgy. Much better to walk up North Frederick Street and then across as it is well... more

We (daughter, 13; son, 15; myself,!!) stayed at the Dublin International Youth Hostel on 31JUL2004, arriving there kind of late, but it was excellent for us as a family who travel on a shoestring. Great breakfasts, friendly folks, excellent showers/facilities. I highly recommend it, especially if you are flying out the next morning! You may also see pix on my... more

Don't stay on the ground floor. There's no carpets in the halls and people are running and jumping and yelling all night. If that's your only choice...go somewhere else more

The desk staff were friendly and helpful. It was very busy due to a special offer in December. The offer is repeated in January. I was allocated a top bunk which was difficult to mount quietly being an overweight 57 year old going to the toilet twice every night. The room was extemely hot until about 04:00am despite a window... more
