Being a traveller on my own, I experienced no problems whatsoever at this hotel. The reception area was spotless, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and very nice. Although I'd booked a single room, I was given a twin, so the room was bigger than I had anticipated. Bonus in the room was the fact... more

I did like the location of this place. Shopping and tourist sites at hand and Metro station nearby. I had a single room which was just about big enough for me. Reception staff spoke good English but I have got to say that they could have been more helpful when I made enquiries. eg. had to meet a friend at... more

The elevator was on the fritz. We failed to get all but one note left at the desk by friends in Madrid and that note (a telephone message) was indecipherable. The sheets were rough hewn and staff, with one exception, was indifferent. We would not return. That said, the location was perfect for forays around town and the air conditioning... more

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in March, 2007. The rooms are dingy and seemed unclean. We were on a lower level and the street noise was unbearable. Hotel staff was not friendly or accomodating. The only good feature was the free internet. We would not stay here again or recommend it to others. more

We stayed 7 nights at the Hotel Opera based on location & favorable comments from Maribel guides, Rick Steves & other reviews. The location was terrific; right next to the opera house, the Palace was 2 blocks away, and Sol & Plaza Mayor and Cava Brava a short 10 minute walk ..Many good restaurants and sights are nearby within walking... more

Enjoyed our stay here. Location is excellent and very convenient for most of important sights, Royal Palace, Plaza mayor etc. Metro is really close and very efficient and cheap, but walking distances to places like the Prado, Thyssen Collection and Cortes not insurmountable. Good shopping and restaurants/bars plentiful and nearby. Rooms were clean and spacious and bathroom and mini bar... more

Hotel is in a great location about 2 blocks from the Royal Palace and one block from one of the tour compaines where you can book day trips to Avila, etc. The triple room and the bathroom were spacious and very clean. The air conditioner was disconnected at the time we went, and being from FL we slept with the... more

The hotel was really good, it really well located, the staff were talking in english and it was clean. Our room was big, really clean, but there was 2 single bed instead of a double bed. When we asked for a double bed, they said that the room of the hotel only had single beds and no double bed. As... more

The best thing about staying here is the location. Just a few feet from the Royal Palace and also conveniently located by a metro station. I stayed there in September and loved the fact that I could just walk across the street and there was the Royal Palace! The Opera House is also located there and there are great little... more
