We booked by telephone from San Sebastian two days before our arrival, as our other alternatives for our last night in Madrid before leaving Spain were completely booked. Luckily, the Carlton offered us a room for 100 euros. On arrival we discovered that the room was actually more of a suite, with a "living room" with chairs and a sofa,... more

We stayed 4 nights at the Carlton. Got quiet room on a higher floor overlooking side street. Very clean and comfortable but beds are very hard and pillows are the total opposite so might not please everyone. No facility to make hot drink in room and you have to pay for room safe. There is no access to iron/ironing board... more

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. I had a single room on the 7th floor that had a little balcony with a table and chair. The room was nice but the bathroom was quite small. The bath had a glass enclosure, making it difficult to get into and out of the bath. All the windows have double glazing... more

The goal was to find a four star hotel that offered an inclusive rate for B&B - few do in Madrid - and one located close to, but not in, the old town. Hotel Carlton fitted our criteria and looked good on paper. And so it proved to be in real life. We had a first floor room that looked... more

This hotel is on the "outskirts" of what Priceline calls Old Madrid. It is quite a walk to the different plazas where most of the tourists want to be. However it is quite close to the Museums. I paid $190 US per night which I thought was a little high for Priceline but it was last minute and it was... more

We spent 3 nights at the hotel. Though reception had a business-like approach we found them friendly and helpful. The rooms and shower facilities were reasonably spacious and very clean. Breakfasts were great and we loved sitting at the bar for a sundowner. The Carlton is centrally positioned and once we had worked out the metro we were able to... more

Excellent Place to stay in Madrid. Location is great. Very nice and modern hotel, and staffs are friendly. Breakfast Buffet is great, but expensive. more

The hotel wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after having read some reviews. From the airport we bought the 10 ticket pass and went to the Atocha subway stop after transferring once. From there it was about a 5 minute walk. The neighborhood the hotel is located in is not that great but for the price you... more

We stayed in the Carlton for 5 nights at the end of March 08. Loved the hotel, only found one tiny fault: The air conditioning-because of the time of year, only the heating worked, and as the weather outside was warm, it made our room boiling. We ended up having to leave windows open (we were up on the 5th... more

Easy to get to this hotel - buy 10-ticket 'Metrobus' at airport. Add 2 euros supplement each way for getting to and from airport. The airport is huge and empty - takes ages to walk to the gates - use the lifts and not escalators to save time. Nearest metro stop is Palos de la Frontera (line 3) and 5... more
