The staff at this hotel were very friendly and welcoming. Martina, Mariana and Michele were at the front desk, always smiling with your key ready to hand to you. One warning...don't use their plastic laundry bag to put your dirty clothes in unless you WANT them laundered. We did and the next day and 52 Euros later, we had clean... more

Fantastic location - a couple of minutes walk from the main centre, two towers, piazza maggiore, restaurants etc. Hotel very clean, staff extremely helpful (spoke reasonable english). Breakfast - plenty of choice to suit all, cooked breakfast was scrambled egg, bacon and sliced tomatoes. Suggest eating this on the sun terrace and watch the world go by. Rooms were very... more

I don’t know if we were unlucky, but the room was pretty poor. A huge amount of money needs to be spent to bring the rooms from the 1970’s when they were last refurbished to the present day. A huge disappointment that it had a tiny telly (television to you Americans!!) no bath an ancient shower that did not work... more

My wife and I spent 4 days at the San Donato (April7th - April 11th) and found the hotel to be a great location, clean, comfortable, with the best breakfast we have had in our many trips to Europe. All of the paled in comparison to the staff. They were all spectacular. The maid, the bar/restaurant staff and the front... more

After reading other reviews about this hotel i was very weary about booking it, but thought if it's in the centre i will save a fortune on taxi's etc. I was very pleasantly surprised the hotel was beautiful, our room was spotless and very spacious with a huge bathroom with power shower! The breakfast was basic but you wouldnt starve.... more

Unlike other reviewers, my husband and I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel San Donato. It´s located on a historical building inside the historical city center (taxis and cars need authorization to drive there). The terrace on the second floor has a beautiful view of rooftops and the two towers, especially on the sunset(photo). Our room was spacious and... more

The location of San Donato was perfection itself. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was nice. i loved the terrace-having a caffe' or prosecco, listening to churchbells...but i could never go back: the nightly noise from rowdy crowd on street kept me from even one good night's rest. blaring music, that even ear plugs didn't drown out..it was just too... more

This hotel is a fairly good place in a large business-oriented city. However, a room at the back is a definite must -- even though the rooms seem to be somewhat small. The hotel is under external renovation at the front. As well, there is a club called Transylavania in one corner at the front of the hotel -- catering... more

The absolute perfect location for many local sites. However, believe other reviewers that...a) the hotel is covered in scaffolding, and more importantly b) the hotel Front Desk seem to take pleasure in being the most unhelpful, unpleasant, and downright mean people. I asked if I could cash one $40 USD American Express Traveler's Cheque and the Front Desk flat out... more

I agree that when I went in to inquire prices etal, the personnel were unfriendly and "hauty" in my opinion. Since we visit italia yearly, we question different places for prices and etal. We were staying at the City Hotel in Bologna........ which one of the reviewers mentioned about the re-construction of this hotel. We were there 2003 when it... more
