We stayed two nights in the hotel. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. The carpet and wallpaper was filthy, so bring slippers. The location is great. It is easy to reach all major sights and very convenient to the train station. We felt very cozy in the rooms and the staff was helpful. A two night stay was... more

This hotel was a great find. It is a typical older European hotel, meaning it is not perfect. But it was easy to find, centrally located to all major sites and trains, clean and accomodating. This hotel is old, the walls do need a fresh papering (the floors in our back corner room were tiled), but if you are looking... more

I would like to meet the reviewer who gave this hotel a 3 star rating. Comparing this to other 3 star hotels, 1-2 stars should be removed. A very tired hotel that needs major upgrading. The furniture had seen better days, the carpet needed changing not cleaning. The photos of the hotel looked good but they were misleading. The staff... more

Location was great, close to the train station, street market, restaurants, attractions and even close to our tour CAF travel office. However, the room was quite dirty and the carpet had stains on them. Also, under the floor carpet there were peices of garbage. The shower curtain did not close all the way down so water got everywhere onto the... more

We were stuck with this hotel on the easter long weekend. Dark, dingy, water damaged floorings, a terrible breakfast and surly reception staff , need I say more. Look closer to the railway station on Via Faenza, there a lot of good hotels like Azzi-locanda Degli Artis. more

I find this site very useful so I thought I would write my first review. I found this hotel clean and adequate for a short stay of four nights. It doesn't have the latest Mod Cons, but then again if your going to central Florence expecting modern buildings you are going to the wrong place. With regard to the noise... more

The hotel is a tired. The capet and wallcovering is old and in need of updating.Bathrooms are poor by all standards. The staff is friendly and helpful. The biggest problem is the noise level in the evening. Threre is a Irish bar across the street and a Brazilan disco next door. If you don't mind waiting until 4:00am to go... more

I would like to thank you for providing such a nice place to stay while we visited Florence last week. Our room number 407 was perfect and the balcony was an unexpected bonus and the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the beautiful panoramic skyline of Florence. Everyone at the hotel was professional, polite and friendly, ultimately this helped... more

Internet pix of Hotel Rex are totally misleading. The wallpaper and carpet are badly stained. The room AC is ineffective. The bathroom is just a large shower with a curtain between the floor drain and the toilet/bidet. Maintenance and redecoration seem to have been deferred permanently. The staff are demoralized. Worst hotel I’ve seen since the night I spent in... more
