We telephoned the Fontebella on the morning we wished to begin our stay having negotiated our way out of an awfully located self-catering apartment in Spoleto. The hotel staff were very helpful and able to offer us a superior room (make sure you get one with a view over the valley) at a very reasonable price for the six nights... more

We were very lucky when we arrived in Assisi at this hotel because there was one parking spot left reserved for the hotel, and we got it!!! Otherwise, staying there would have been either much more costly or tiring because of the uphill climb for people with cars. Positive aspects include some nice and helpful receptionists, clean rooms/toilets and air... more

We stayed in Italy for 16 days and the VIEW from our room at the Fontebella was the BEST. You could sit on the bed a look out the window at miles of beautiful vistas. (the window also opened too) The room was a nice size, not as large as the other 4 hotels we stayed in, but had a... more

We stayed in a party of 15 with a travel group for 3 nights. We arrived to find many rooms not made up and generally disappointing from the viewpoint of size and decoration. We eventually upgraded to a better room but that was not cheap. Staff did not speak much English so was difficult to sort out problems. Breakfast was... more

My family and I stayed here in January, two adults, three teenagers. We didn't have a booking and just turned up. We were given a family room which was wonderful - a loft with a double bed and three singles downstairs. Room was very big, comfortable and CLEAN. We had a lovely view over the valley. The man on the... more

I would recommend this hotel for its location - between the Basilica of St Francis and the centre of the town. Our room was up on the sixth floor, a little tired, but with views like we had, who cares? Friendly staff, reasonable breakfast, good value. more

My husband and I were on our 3 week honeymoon in Italy and thought that a nice side trip to Umbria to relax before Rome would be ideal. We booked the Fontabella as our second choice since our first was booked. When we arrived the beds were not made to accommodate us (two twins that were not pushed together) although... more

Just returned from Italy. Our choir went as a group so an agency handled all accomodations. Many people got a fairly decent room but my roomate and I were assigned to room #100 which was long and narrow. The beds were placed foot to head with a cabinet separating them. If one of us was standing by the bed, the... more

This hotel is the ideal place to stay iin Assisi. It is very centrally located and is in a very attractively modernized old palace. The staff is charming, the food is good, the rooms are well furnished, the view is spectacular and it is reasonably priced. My only criticism is that, as always in Europe, single rooms are very small. more

Our room was actually a 2-story loft with a queen size bed upstairs, and 2 twin beds and the bathroom downstairs, and an amazing view of the valley below Assisi. Restaurant is very good but pricey. more
