The town of Maastricht is so historic and wonderful that to stay in this type of hotel is really a shame. It is quite generic meaning you would find this type anywhere. The hotel wasn't bad, but it was not deluxe!!! No airconditioning, no ice and a small room. The location is perfect, because it's a 10 minute walk to the centre of Maastricht. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. Just call it a 3 star hotel and everything is fine!! more

The Bastion is the worst type of budget hotel - it's obvious the managers are cutting every corner in the book and still charging over €100 a night for your stay. The room had an odour of cigarettes (even though we asked for non-smoking), the furniture was cheap and tatty and the bed linen had cigarette burns in it. Stayed at the Bastion for four nights in May. Had a great stay. The room was large, bright and very very clean.
