Hadn't stayed in this place for years, but first meeting was just over the road so thought I would give it a whirl. Glad I did. Room was fine. Hotel is in a nice part of town but what sets this place apart is the staff. Arrived pretty tired after a day of meetings, and the fact that the receptionist... more

Very much catering for the business community, this hotel gets the basics right and is located in a decent area that's 15 minutes to the centre (walk + tram). I've stayed a number of times, purely on business. Yes, the view of canals from the dining / breakfast room is quite pleasant but not sure if that justifies the price... more

Rooms were a bit outdated although they said they were renovated. Rooms were a nice size and very close to the RAI. Breakfast was below average and closes promptly. The Okura was very nice and modern, but the rooms were smaller - probably not worth the extra money if you are on a budget. If you want to be near... more

I have stayed several times at this hotel ( from the Apollo ' only' days, to Meridien, and now Golden Tulip. The rooms greatly vary. Some are very nice with great views, others rather dreary. Bathrooms OK. Staff is not especially helpful. The restaurant has a great view and used to have wonderful food. One of the very best in... more

Stayed at the Golden Tulip Hotel 22 August to 25 August 2008. Got taxi from airport($30) as really unsure where the hotel was. However could easily have got train from Airport to Central Station and the Tram 24 or Tram 5 outside Central station. Tram stops 5 minutes walk away from the hotel (get off at Apollolaan. Turn left and... more

We (husband and myself) arranged a last minute, short break in Amsterdam. We read a few reviews of this hotel before booking and can confirm the positive ones. This hotel is well-kept with pleasant and helpful staff. It is in a quiet location, within easy walking distance of the lively neighbourhood of the Pjip, where there is a range of... more

Stayed here when it was Le Meridien Apollo. Disliked because it was far from the city center, not very accesible (only by tram) and the room was poor and old. Bathroom was really bad. Breakfast was good and location has a lot of potential because the surroundings are really nice. more

Having stayed in some nice places on the outskirts of Amsterdam, including another Golden Tulip, I had high hopes for Golden Tulip Apollo with its advertisement of being on the convergence of five canals. I prepaid for a 'deluxe room with guaranteed view of the canals'. So I was prepared to accept the receptionist was dyslexic when I opened my... more

I’ve just returned from a long weekend in Amsterdam. We stayed at the Golden Tulip Apollo, Amsterdam, and overall - I was most impressed with this hotel. The hotel is situated slightly out of town. You get a tram, and it takes about 10- 15 mins to get there. Once off the tram – you’ve got about a 5 mins... more
