We should have read these reviews before visiting. Beds featured only a terrycloth cover on the mattress and an (unwashed) duvet. Dark halls, tiny rooms, and a seriously unfriendly staff. Would have been disappointing at any price. more

When my girlfriend and I were booking a hostel on-line before departing for Amsterdam, Max in Mokum was a last minute choice becasue of its relatively cheap prices. Very nice staff who helped us very well. All sites are close by. Good restaurants. Nice unbelieveble outdoor albert cuyp market one block away. Formely known as hotel hemonyhof. An overpriced, small, dank, dark and dingy out of the way place with appalling business practices. Move on folks -- there's many, many places to stay in Amsterdam, no need to waste your time and money with this one. more
