We went to do the Amsterdam Marathon so wanted somewhere to stay that would be relaxing and peaceful. Well this certainly was the right choice. Was met by Efren who was very friendly and helpful he stocked the fridge well and even for Marathon runners there was plenty to eat. It was great to just sit watching the boats go... more

My husband and I spent three nights at the PhilDutch house boat. It was very comfortable and everything we were led to expect. The boat is all yours for the time you have booked even though we were confused on what to expect due to some of the past posts. Efran does live in the boat but only when he... more

We stayed at the Phildutch houseboat in July 2008 after staying at the Hilton in Paris. It was quite a change from one to the other but we couldn't have been happier with the houseboat! I would equate the quality of the boat to one bedroom timeshare condos I have stayed in. Please remember that it is not a hotel... more

Me and my wife, along with our 13 mth old daughter stayed at the houseboat for 5 nights in mid August 08. The houseboat is easy to locate from the directions provided and Efren, our host, was there waiting for us at the agreed arrival time. Efren was very welcoming and provided us with a fridge full of items for... more

My two daughters are ages 13 and 15... the three of us spent five nights in early August and had a very nice stay. Effren's houseboat is at a very convenient and safe location, and coming back to it after a day of sightseeing suited us much better than a room at a B&B or hotel would have. It consists... more

We contacted Phildutch for booking online months ahead of time. All was smooth until one day, I suddenly received an email from Efren saying that his secretary had made a mistake about our bookings, to be specific, our arrival and departure dates. After some discussion, we agreed to stay for 3 nights at his boathouse, and another 2 nights elsewhere,... more

Dear Guests, Thank you so much for all the compliments regarding your accommodation in PhilDutch Houseboat and for myself as well , Atleast somehow you've been honest about your Host warm welcome and most important is to my Houseboat facilities. I really appreciate eventhough you gave me a very poor review. Please allow me to explain my side.... I never...

Efren as a host was amazing. Even if we only saw him briefly, he was one of the best things about our stay in Amsterdam. First, having our late arrival and miscommunication on my part. I didn't realize that they worked with 24-hr time clock in Europe informed him that we will be arriving at the houseboat at around 8.... more

My sister and I stayed on the boat for 3 nights and overall it was a positive experience. The bathroom is huge, beds comfy, great internet access and we loved feeding the ducks and swans from the dinner table. The best part was your host and owner of the boat, Efren. He is very hospitable and will go out of... more

I'm typing this review from the houseboat. It's our second and final night here in Amsterdam and we have LOVED staying in Efren's houseboat. I'd highly recommend staying here instead of a hotel. It's so nice being able to cook meals in the kitchen, feed the ducks through the window, watch TV in the living room or bedroom. I only... more

... when you can stay on a houseboat a picturesque 15-minute walk from the centre of Amsterdam instead? Attentive host Efren Quintana really wants you to enjoy your stay, and goes out of his way to make sure you will be comfortable. Don't expect the impersonal and mundane 'luxuries' of a 4-star hotel. What you'll get instead is a quirky... more
