Situated on the seafront, this is an excellent hotel with lovely staff who seem dedicated to making your stay a pleasant one. Nothing was too much trouble and without exception they were cheerful and very friendly. We went to stay for the weekend of the Sunderland Airshow (which sadly was cancelled because of a sea mist). Our room was on... more

My wife and I were attending a wedding at the Hotel and we received a special rate to stay the night. The Hotel was excellent in everyway. Position, the quality of the rooms and the food. We would definatlely use again when we are in the area. more

We had one night in the Sunderland marriott and had a fantastic time! The hotel is worthy of the Marriott 4*'s and the staff were extreemly helpfull and polite. The room (which was a seaview) in the original part was huge, well appointed, and clean. We had sofabead, two charis, propper king bed and tea / coffee. The view was... more

After a three-night stay, I gladly verify all comments re quality of location, rooms, public areas, restaurant, pool, car park and - especially - staff. True, the restaurant and bar are a little pricey, and £15 a day for internet access is absurd, but the overall package is really excellent. And it's all self-motivated - there's not much competition in... more

Having never been to Sunderland before, a recent business trip led me to find the Marriott Hotel situated on the sea front. The hotel was well managed, friendly and the bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. The hotel has a good size car park and fabulous views for the rooms on the sea front overlooking the lighthouse. There are some... more

I must confess - I was very impressed. The bedroom was enormous & beautifully furnished with king size bed, three piece suite with TV, free internet access, mini-fridge, tea & bikkies, safe, trouser press, ironing board and the bedding was super Marriott quality. The bathroom was also huge & modern with bath & separate shower although it would have been... more

I found the hotel easily enough, and parked in what was a quite small and tight car park. Check in was straightforward – the receptionist was very welcoming, polite and efficient. My room was in the “new wing”. It was nice and big, with a very sparkly and shiny bathroom, though Marriott’s corporate colours in the main bedroom felt quite... more

I have recently stayed at this hotel on the 9th and 10th November, and our overall experience was excellent. My husband and I stayed in a superior room with sea views, and I must say the bed was extremely comfortable, one of the best hotel beds I have been in. Our room was spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable. Although the... more

I've stayed here a few times now and its consistently good. Marriott's in my view seem to be the pick of the hotel chains and this Marriott is top class. The hotel is situated next to a beach (not the palm fringed type - the beach is pretty bleak with crashing waves) so the setting is half decent and fairly... more

I shall have to come clean first. I am married to a Sunderland girl (no jokes) and I just love the north east so reviews of this area are always bound to be a bit biased. The hotel is well situated on the beach front with a few restaurants very close by (2 Indian, 2 Italian, 1 chinese, an assortmant... more
