We spent several nights at Chan Kah this last April, and just loved our experience there. I think the highlight of our stay at Chan Kah, were the Howler monkeys at night. In fact, our last morning there, we were serenaded by Howlers at breakfast, and when we took off to locate them by the creek, a family of Howlers... more

After a long and winding 7hr drive from San Cristobal we arrived at Chan-Kah with our paid confirmation in hand only to be told that we did not have a room reserved or paid for. They proceeded to tell us that we had to contact their booking agent 'bestday' to sort it out ! My partner was extremely sick from... more

It's not easy to get to, but the Mayan ruins at Palenque are worth the trip! And the place to stay when you finally get there is the Chan Kah. It consists of a collection of bungalows in a park-like setting, with a series of dreamy pools overlooked by the bar and dining room. The whole place is one big... more

This was a lovely place, very atmospheric in its setting amongst lots of 'jungle', with well-appointed stone cottages which make it a bit different from the usual. The cottages were kept clean, lots of insects around generally but that's just the jungle for you. No tv in ours, we didn't want one as we were trying to escape the outside... more

I had read so much about Palenque and knew that the best place to stay was Chan Kah. How disappointed we were. On arrival we were shown a room that smelt damp but the staff assured us that as soon as we turned on the air con it would pass, I wish I had never beleived that. We lit candles,... more

We enjoyed our two-night stay at Chan-Kah in March 2008. We thought the grounds were lovely and the bungalows comfortable (even if they haven’t been redecorated since the year I was born). We had plenty of hot water, the air conditioning worked great (which was heaven given how hot it was outside), and while we didn’t use it…the pool was... more

I'm very surprised about the negative reviews of this place. I read about this place in a book called "1001 Places to See Before You Die" which was very positive (obviously, if you have to see it before you die). We had a difficult check in due to my absurdly poor Spanish skills and a misunderstanding with my Expedia booking... more

I traveled with my whole family and stayed at this Hotel. It was a terrible experience. The rooms they gave us looked nothing like the pics on their website. Dirty, noisy... the service was TERRIBLE, there was no one to talk to... in three days the manager never showed up. My recomendation... stay anywhere in Palenque but here!!! more

We arrived early in the morning with the night bus from Merida. Got a cab to Chan Kah and we could check in immediately. We picked a bungalow in a quiet corner of the resort. Hard beds, a spider ervery now and then but very quiet, in the middle of "jungle". Giant limestone swimming pool at the resort, very impressive.... more
