We arrived at The Chelsea around 9pm and was a bit put off by how dark and quiet it was outside and no one to greet us as it was after office hours. Infact, a few days later we had to open the door to a new guest who arrived after office hours as well. But we were definitely impressed when... more

We decided to stay here even though it was a bit out of our price range to "spoil" ourselves, and have a nice home cooked breakfast, how wrong could we be. The shower in the ensuite bathroom had no shower door so water goes all over your bathroom floor, the hot water took 10 minutes to warm up. Tea bags but... more

Our first impression was a geogeous tree-lined street with unique iron work on the row houses. About 20-25 min. on foot to the downtown port area, so it gave us a better feel for how Sydneysiders really live. There is a bus stop just up the hill if you don't feel like walking. The Chelsea is a wonderful & warm (as in friendly) place to stay in Sydney. It was very relaxing and the staff was very helpful and interesting to talk to. It is sort of close to public transportation - a little bit of a walk. It is also close to Bill's - the best breakfast place ever. The street is... more

I would recommend this as an option, as the rate is very good. For some reason, I left this hotel, with a mixed reaction. I noticed a very unpleasant smell in the... more

Stayed for seven nights and found THE CHELSEA wonderful right from the start. It ist so different from the usual chain or Grand type hotel. We stayed in a nice room upstairs overlooking the courtyard, which was really quiet. We were surprised how big it was. Bathroom was big as well, especially the shower was spatious and brand new. The... more

We had a great weekend at The Chelsea. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was just beautiful, albeit small. We got a beautiful cool breeze through the french windows and loved the courtyard as well. The breakfast was ample and relaxed and we could not have asked for more. Staying was a pleasure and leaving was... more
