After finding that various hotel Internet booking sites had no rooms available at this hotel, I rang the latter directly on the morning of my intended stay. The receptionist was most obliging and immediately offered me a deluxe suite at the standard room Internet price of A$110. The Shamrock is a truly grand and historic building, and with the development of the Pall Mall area of Bendigo, it's now right in the heart of Bendigo's best restaurants and bars such as the GPO, the Whirrakee, the Shamrock's own Victorian Wine Room, and a dozen little restaurants and bistros in the streets and alleys nearby. We have just returned from a driving trip in Victoria and stayed Easter at the Shamrock and it is an absolute gem. I stayed at the Shamrock on a weekend get away with a friend. The Shamrock is in a great location, right in the heart of town. Walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants.
