Overall I liked this hotel. I have a preference for boutique hotels as they offer a more interesting experience. Here are my Pros and Cons: 1. Location (1 block from gorgeous Union station) is a plus for those cramming in multiple site-seeing locations and not wanting to cab. This is NOT the location for those looking to walk out of... more

Don't bother with this converted apartment building. The Kimpton brand suffers greatly here from an under trained, apathetic staff manning a poorly altered structure. Unbelievably loud noise from every corner can be heard in every other. Forget sleeping when you can hear the phone conversations and/or TV sets from three different rooms. Rarely can you find a bellman to hail... more

I stayed here whilst attending a conference in Washington. The hotel is situated in the Capitol Hill district of DC and is only a block away from Union Station and its metro stop. The surrounding area has a number of hotels but also seems to be bothered by a number of homeless people hanging about and sleeping in doorways. I... more

Nice rooms, very nice bed/linens. clean, though the room I had was noisy in the early morning, as the garbage trucks come right under your winow. Also surprized by the "business center" which is a tiny room by the reception with two computers in it.. and you have to pay to go on line and another payment if you wish... more

Had a nice stay here, Great location if you have business to do near capitol hill or are coming to DC via Union Station. Stayed in a regular room, it was nice in size with a marble bathroom but windows faced a brick wall and room got little outside light. Receptionist were very helpful and informative, I had a few... more

First time in DC . We were finishing off a 2 week tour of Virginia and loved our stay here. When we arrived the rooms we had booked were not available and the girl on reception was very dismissive about our complaint , but the other member of staff,"Marcus Aurelius" was extremely empathic, kind and helpful and eventually our room... more

My husband and I stayed at Hotel George for the Labor Day weekend. It was luxurious. The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet. The TV was new and the New York Times on the weekend was a nice touch. We ate one night at the Bistro Bis at the hotel and the food was excellent. The staff was very... more

My husband and I stayed from 8/10 - 8/14. This was our first experience in staying in a boutique hotel and I will never go back to a regular hotel. I finally found a hotel that was worth the price. ($104 + tax per night). The room was spacious, the beds and linens fantastic, the plasma tv was wonderful, the... more

The George is stylish and non-corporate feeling with exceptional things that matter to travelers: Great beds and great baths, intelligent staff. I was a bit nervous driving in DC to leave a college student in a summer job, but found the reception staff to be very reassuring and helpful. There was a national Policeman's convention going on in town which... more

After a business trip at the Willard, which was lovely, I took some vacation time and checked into the Hotel George. It was my first time staying in a Kimpton Hotel and although I had read mixed reviews, I deceided to go for it. After booking my room at the hotel website, I received an email asking me if they... more
