Stayed at the Melrose 3 days and were very pleased. Great location, very clean rooms and baths; excellent staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. Wonderful area for walking and shopping. We will stay there again and would be happy to suggest this hotel to friends. it is also pet friendly, which is another plus. more

I really wanted to give the Melrose hotel a high rating since I got such a good price on the room. Staff is very friendly-checked us in early. Had to switch rooms. Hotel is just older looking-worn out carpet edges-doors and paint updating needed all over hotel. Price was good- near metro and Georgetown. Good water pressure and hot water... more

We've just returned from DC where we experienced the Cherry Blossom Festival. We stayed 5 nights in a Deluxe Double Bed room on the 7th floor. The room was enormous in comparison to a standard Holiday Inn type room. The furniture and sheets and towels were of above average quality. The bathroom/sink area was no smaller than a normal room.... more

In March I stayed at Melrose for three nights. I really enjoyed the stay. But of course you can always find something negativ or positiv in every hotel no matter how much you pay. My positiv things were: Great location The size of my room. Price ($149 pr. night) Really nice furniture My negativ things were: No breakfast included Lack... more

We recently stayed in a deluxe room for $99 and were very happy. The room was beautiful, service was excellent and the location was great. It's close to the Foggy Bottom Metro stop and close to the free shuttle to Kennedy Center. The only negative is that the bathroom could use an update. more

We're big fans of boutique hotels -- hate the cookie-cutter effect of chains. We chose the Melrose Inn because of its proximity to Georgetown (we drove to DC from Ch'ville, VA for our anniversary weekend and planned to go dancing at Georgetown bars). This place was also less than a mile from the Nat'l Mall, so we had a nice,... more

I say read this review as a 3.5 rather than a 4, for 2 reasons. 1. I ordered a steak through room service, with a blue cheese sauce. It just wasn't very nice, I'm afraid - the sauce totally dominated the meat and I just had to scrape it off. 2. I arrived at breakfast at opening time, only to... more

So far, we've stayed at the Fairmont, the M Street, the Westin, and this trip, the Melrose. All are four star hotels, all deservedly so. These hotels are located within a block of each other in what priceline calls northwest DC. We like this area as it's close to Georgetown and the mall. There's also plenty of parking on the... more

I would agree with most of the good reviews posted here. I found the front desk staff really excellent and did their best to try and held you. My only complaint was the sneaky extras at breakfast. Order the "continental" and you find out when paying that the juices offered were $6.50 extra each! There are several excellent breakfast places... more

I got an excellent last minute rate by bidding on a bargain travel site. I was pleased with the hotel from the very beginning. It has an elegant lobby and friendly front desk staff. The room was clean and well appointed. The location was perfect -- in the heart of Georgetown and close to the shopping and restaurants. The breakfast... more
