There is nothing particularly wrong with this B&B. But nothing really great, either. For example, the breakfast was OK, but items kept running out and the toaster only partially worked. The rugs could stand a little cleaning, but, overall the place was acceptable. One caveat. This B&B consists of two houses, the main one at 1854 Mintwood and the other... more

I havent seen such a rotten cheese! Its like staying in one of the worst old apartment! Tiles are coming up from the bathroom, internet never work, and bunch of other things. Worth 10-12$/night. 8 $ for breakfast which will not be in very clean vessels. 50 cents for watching TV which people usually throw away. 50 cents for using... more

This is a great location in DC, lots of good ethnic restaurants nearby. Historic interior. Very great staff, personable and helpful. more

We stayed for two nights and I would have to say it was very pleasant. We had two rooms which was great. The beds were more than comfortable and slept as though we were home. The place was extremely clean and the bathroom had just what you needed and also was very clean. Bring your own hair dryer... There was... more

The hotel was in good condition and comfortable, however what they pride themselves on in their website is friendly staff, however this does not happen in reality. The staff were unfriendly and rude, and there was little confidence when asking for advice or details on Washington etc... A real shame as the actual hotel was comfortable and homely. more

I have stayed at several places in DC and I tend to like a bit more of a personalised place. If I wanted hotel-type accommodation I would have stayed in a hotel! The staff were just that: staff. No personal touch. The building was creaky and the prices are higher than other similar places in DC. more

The hotel was a bit on the shabby side with lumpy pillows, thin towels, dust in the corners, and cracks in the plaster walls and cheap jug sherry in the lobby. However, the location is great. It’s in a safe quiet neighborhood within a blocks walk to Adam Morgan, great restaurants and hip and busy nightlife. It was a 12... more

Wow, I'm so shocked to see all of the negative reviews of the Kalorama that I had to write my own! I live in Richmond, VA and often travel to DC for shows, meetings, etc. I have stayed at the Kalorama Guest House at least 4 times and will be returning there next weekend for another stay. Folks, this place... more

I don't think, "personality" and "character" in a B&B necessarily have to mean that there are neither phone, shower, nor TV in the room, the bathtub is decomposing, the sink is clogged and the staff is disinterested. Somebody here likes to make money but hates to spend any: On carpets, paint, bathroom etc. The place is in dire need of... more

Our second stay at the Kalorama Guest House included a no extra charge waterfall in the bathroom. Water dripped from the room above us. We complained and were told that: it had never happened before--even though rust was evident on the ceiling as was peeling paint 2) it was due to water flowing in from an open window 3) we... more
