I stayed at the Hotel Helix as a relaxing trip for my boyfriend and I. Immediately as you walk into the Hotel, the scene is fun and hip. We were greeted by polite hotel staff. During the weekday, the hotel provides a free wine hour for guests. The rooms were spacious and inviting. The bed is comfortable and terrfic lighting... more

I was fully expecting to love the Helix, but it wasn't up to the usual Kimpton boutique standard and that for me is set by the Triton in San Francisco. There was a shabbiness about the place that was anything but chic. Carpets looked tired and rooms were clean but only just. Loved the bar decor but it lacked ambience.... more

The minute you pull into the hotel, you know this isn't your regular Hilton hotel. The lobby is filled with oranges, reds and pinks. A lot of vinyl all over. My room on the second floor was very clean and tidy, and the whole Austin Powers thing wasn't overpowering. The automated voice ala Austin Powers on the hotel’s automated phone... more

While the hotel was a little farther from the Dupont station than I would have liked, my fiance and I had a wonderful stay while I was in town for a conference. The rooms were large and decorated in a funky way - which was OK for us as we enjoy that sort of thing. The rooms could have been... more

Huge, comfortable rooms with big comfortable beds, good lighting, CHAC and nice Aveda products in the BR. Over the top decor is either kitschy or cheesy, depending on your perspective. Nearly every surface is covered with animal print! Didn't hit the minibar, but loved that it was stocked with retro treats like pop rocks and Pez. Free wireless in the... more

Just returned from our 6th stay at the Helix Hotel, and it is safe to say that we have a new favorite DC hotel! Every time, the staff has been wonderful, and we love the fact that no two rooms appear to be the same. If you want a real treat ask for a suite, or an excercise room with... more

I stayed at the Hotel Helix on a business trip and booked it through the Kimpton site. It is great little hotel and reasonably priced. The hotel was about a 25 minute drive from the Reagan airport in morning traffic. I stayed in one of the suites (room 1020). It is a huge suite. The living room area is really... more

The Hotel Helix has a mid-1960's hipster design ethos, and it carries it through with a vengance, right down to the leopard print bathrobe and bedspread. The previous reviewer who said neon colors was so right. The Helix is what the Standard hotels in LA would be like if they were reasonably priced and run by nice people. Most of... more

I would probably rate the hotel 4.5 stars if I could... and as far as value for money, it was outstanding. I got the room on Hotwire (hoping it would be a different Kimpton hotel), and was not disappointed. Sure, the hotel is a little tired (only a little), but I and my (21 yr old) son loved the 60's... more

I truly enjoyed this hotel for my fourth stay in DC. The funky edge was a refreshing change to the other chain hotels I've stayed in previously. The staff was amazing. They were curteous and always went above and beyond the call of duty. The rooms were spacious and clean, and a great value for the money. The only thing... more
