First impressions were good, lovely looking building sat in park like grounds with a river to one side. Once inside the building it was broadly what one would expect from a period property, being full of character. We stayed in the Swansea Suite which consisted of a beautiful bedroom with small lounge and adequate bathroom. The main room was lovely... more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a family wedding which was being held in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and our room was very inviting and with a very comfy bed. If you needed anything the staff would do their best to get it for you. It is about 10 min walk from the town... more

For the third year running we took our Christmas Break at Caer Beris. Being regular customers the staff were welcoming and accommodated our every need. Sean Smith, the General Manager, made himself available throughout the Christmas period to ensure that customers received excellent service. Sean has been in post just over a year. In that time he has instigated a... more

This hotel has everything you could want for a relaxed stay – friendly staff, welcoming owners, great food and a terrific ambience. There are four poster rooms, an oak panelled dining room, bar overlooking acres of grounds and a river running round three sides of it. We took our three year old daughter with us and the staff were really... more

Stayed 3 nights for a golfing break with my wife. The grounds are beautiful, surrounded by a river with trout, and containing a paddock for horses. The menu was a bit limited, the decor was faded, and the staff were pleasant but not very attentive. The room was cold - we were told the heating was timer-controlled. But this is... more

Many thanks for taking the time to respond about your recent visit. We do have the heating off for a couple of hours during the day in late summer and early autumn but hope you found it to be warm from the afternoon on. Regarding menus, the full a la carte choices are available to all guests with only a...

Returned from a three day break at this hotel. The hotel location is excellent as was the food. The only downside was the lack of any kind of hosting from the owners there was no atmosphere and no attempt in engaging in any conversation from the staff Overall the facilities are what makes this a great hotel. more

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds but the place itself is a litle tired around the edges. The carpets have been patched, the damp is coming in around the edges of the windows etc. We paid half the advertised price for the room rate (several websites were running the offer) and thought it very good value for money. I... more

We stayed here for a few nights and admittedly it is a lovely old place and the grounds are beautiful, but unfortunately there was a dog show on in town, so the place was full of dogs of all shapes and sizes!!! We were not warned about this when we booked, otherwise we would not have gone here; when you... more

Thanks for taking the trouble to post a review. In the Summer 2007, we have completely re-decorated the outside of the hotel, as well as our continual redecorations of the public areas including new carpets and bedroom and corridor improvements. Please see photos of the refurbishments on our new website As a historic listed building, we always have to maintain...

Fantastic old world charm and character with exceptional service. Room was comfortable and clean and the surroundings were amazing. I stayed on business but would certainly return for pleasure/holiday. Great selection of scotches! more
