This hotel looks fine from the lobby, but it is extremely overpriced for what you get. The rooms are okay. The restaurants are okay. The prices are extremely inflated for this mediocre hotel. I ended up getting food poisoning (e-coli) from my room service dinner and the hotel staff did not seem to care. Check-in and check-out took a painful... more

The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful and the rooms are very well furnished and luxurious. It takes some very special people to completely ruin something like that. The hotel staff are arrogant and completely and totally useless. Breakfast for two at the buffet was over $100 US. To add insult to injury they started taking it down about two minutes... more

Good hotel for business, however the area is nothing to brag about it. The lobby is Ok but my room was very nice and spacious. What I thought was ridiculos is to have to pay for internet service in a hotel like this, and they also charge the guest for parking at the hotel (this to me is just unacceptable). more

I’ve stayed at this Hotel for one week on a business trip. The service is excellent, very good staff and an excellent array of distractions. The room service is quick and very efficient. The only drawback is that neither the Gym and the Wireless Internet are included in the room rate, which in my mind doesn’t make any sense in... more

The Gran Melia is probably the best hotel in Caracas in terms of amenities and service. The hotel is in a ropey area and it would not be a wise idea to walk around after dark, however, that said, it has a walkway to the next-door shopping centre El Recreo which has a wide variety of stores and fast food... more

Pre-paid the hotel 2 weeks in advance but when I turned up they denied all knowledge. Left me for an hour in reception while they "looked" for the reservation. By the time I got my claws on the manager I was ready for blood. He wanted me to pay another US$300 per night and for me to sort out with... more

I booked a room through LHW (official channel for the hotel), using a fully flexible rate. I am supposed to arrive on Feb 23rd, and yesterday I checked my creditcard statement, and I saw that the hotel had drawn 250 USD from my cc on January 28th. I called LHW and they said my rate is fully flexible, and that... more

I travel extensively for a living, I would say that I stay in at least 100 + hotels a year in many different countries. The Gran Melia is good but certainly not great although I would imagine there s not a lot of choice in Caracas ! The gym facilities are very good and the pool also ! The internet... more

The hotel is nice but the area around is not good. I really don´t recommend to stay there. Caracas is a very dangerous city but there are places with police and security, Sabana Grande, the place were the hotel is, isn´t a safe place at all. You can´t walk around. In my way from the hotel to the El Recreo... more
