As two families traveling with an assortment of kids, we were looking for something as close to camping prices as possible without the need to sleep on the ground. Virginia Creek Settlement was perfect. Although they offer some motel-type rooms and furnished mobile homes to make your stay more comfortable, a couple of bare-bones cabins better fit our budget. The... more

We just love coming here. Jimmy and Brinn are great people. They have a little gem of a business going on there. The food is excellent and the rooms are cozy and the beds are very comfortable. The only problem with this establishment is that it's not open year round due to the large amount of snow they get every... more

My 5 year old and I met my mother and her husband for Mothers Day Weekend. We all had a great time. We both drove right up to the Settlement. It is well marked and visable from the street. Our cabin was very nicely decorated and had everything we needed and more. The towels were very, very soft and the... more

We happened upon this charming "settlement". We stayed in our camper in the campground but ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Excellent food; nearly gourmet. Owners were very friendly and hospitable. The only disappointment was the coin operated showers. more

OK here's a great place. We were on the road from SF to Death Valley via Yosemite and we decide to book outside the park. We were not disappointed. 1- The staff is very friendly. 2- Restaurant is good, cheap and copious, with a good atmosphere (internationnal, hikers, hunters, many different people). Breakfast is great, the pancakes are unforgottatble! 3-... more

My daughter and I were looking for a safe and reasonably priced place to stay on a recent vacation (8/2007) in the area of Mono Lake and Yosemite. I found this location on the internet and, based on the previous review written in 2006 was a little hesitant to book the site. But, it was in our price range and... more

What a wonderful place to stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms, cute and clean. The restaurant has wonderful food at reasonable prices. We were traveling with 2 small children who loved looking at all the fun cabins around the property. They loved it when we found the bridge over the stream. Great location - close to Bridgeport, Bodie and... more

Two months before a planned trip from Reno, NV to Palm Springs, CA, we made reservations at Virginia Creek Settlement. We were going to travel down 395 and going to do some sight seeing along the way. Since we were taking our dog with us I found places that would accept him. I loved the idea of a private cabin... more

We regret the incident that occurred on October 9, 2006, and not being given the opportunity to have this person as our guest. On the afternoon she was to check in the restaurant was closed, and we were at our alternate office, our home. A map clearly indicating this location was displayed on the front door of the restaurant. I...

If it isn't mealtime, it's easy to pass by thinking this is just a roadside eatery. Yes, it is a fine Italian & American restaurant. But it's also a motel with rustic Western-style rooms and a campground where you can either pitch your own or rent a tent cabin. The fake Old West town that the folks from London enjoyed... more

The Virginia Creek Settlement is 5 miles south of Bridgeport and offers accomodation ranging from suites to a campground. As a party of four adults and three children, we took two of the double log cabins backing onto a fishing stream. Although the blurb describes them as spacious and charming, we found that having two beds in the cabin didn't... more
