We had originally reserved a room at the Monterey hotel and had been transferred to this hotel so we were not sure what to expect. We loved it! Our cottage was spacious for the 2 of us.It was quiet .It was well located for all the nearby activities without the hustle and bustle. We had our own little yard with outdoor table... more

Just got back and am looking forward to going back next year. Our updated Cottage was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom was very handicapped friendly. The fenced in back patio was perfect for our dog and the gardens were a delight. Front staff was friendly and helpful. Great place to stay for the money. more

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend in June to attend a wedding at The Highlands Inn. With their rooms averaging over $700.00 per night, we had to find something a little more affordable for this family of four. I have to admit after reading some of the other reviews it was a leap of faith to book here.... more

We pulled in to look at the cottages prior to checking in and the driveway leading to the cottages looks like it hadn't been paved or repaired since WWII. The cottage, Henry Miller, was about the size of a large, garden "Tough Shed" with a mismatched front door, but otherwise intact with nice plantings outside. The area was deserted except... more

I loved our stay there... My husband and I went there with our two daughters (1 &5). We stayed in a 2 room cottage and it was awesome. My 5 yearl old loved it! The fireplace was great and they provide the wood so that was great too... It was a little small, but we managed. My only complaint is... more

I've been travelling to the Monterey/Carmel Area about once a month for the past twelve years. About a year and a half ago I started staying at the Carmel River Inn because I needed to take my dog with me on business trips. Staying at the cottages is great. The remodeled cottages are especially wonderful. One night I came back... more

We have just returned from our anual Valentines Day getaway at the Carmel River Inn. For the last three years on this special romantic day, we have enjoyed a wonderful & peaceful time together as always. This Beautiful Inn is right off of Highway 1, nestled in trees of Carmel and not very far from Big Sur. When staying at... more

Several members of my family and I rented a number of the cabins. The older cabins have ripped industrial carpeting and drafty windows. The ceilings and walls in the first cabin were uninsulated (December) and we moved to another. The bed was large but squeaky and the bathroom had no vent. Most of the older cabins look like the inside... more

We loved this little place! It was perfect and we had our own little cottage. I was a little hesitant after I read the some reviews. We had our own room plus a separated kitchen and a small bathroom. It was great for the dog and she loved the place. They are updating many units but we stayed in an... more

LOVELY setting...we stayed for 2 nights in the largest cottage - Number 26. 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a nice size living room with a fireplace and 1 bathroom. PROS: Beautiful surroundings and a nice walk to the Carmel Mission. Hammocks for sitting in the forest area. Quiet location a PLUS...Location was great as its minutes to downtown Carmel and close... more
