Great experience in this family oriented hotel located at Sunny Isles Beach between Miami/South Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. Very clean, quiet with a very classical pool with a beautiful precolombian figure decorating it. Although the building is 60's, is in good shape and maintenance is Ok. Parking is limited, one option is in front crossing the street. Practical cell phone... more

The hotel is at a great location. There are lots of places to eat. There are malls and all types of stores. Walgreen's is open 24/7 and it is only a five minute drive away. They have central air and the climate control on the walls don't work. I did not mind the temperature during the day but it is... more

After being in Miami several times I've never had a bad taste in my mouth until I have stayed in Days Inn "Thunderbird Hotel" in Sunny Isle Beach. Fouth of July weekend was suppose to be one of the most fun and memory filled weekends. Instead of having fun I have spent four days in misery. Hotel is very old... more

I would definately recommend this hotel if you want a good budget hotel. Its right on the beach and metro buses stop right outside, so its easy to get to Miami south beach/down town (takes 30-40 mins), or Aventura Mall (5 mins). Rooms are basic with a fridge and small bathroom. Being from the UK I would have preferred a... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to catching a return flight home from our vacation. From the outside, the appearance appears satsifactory even though it is an older hotel. At first blush it appeared okay until we got into our room which faced the pool area and bar/restaurant. The room itself was satisfactory; bathroom was dingy and... more

We stayed here for a week as part of a Virgin fly drive holiday, and were prepared to pay extra to upgrade our room after reading the mixed reviews - but we didn't need to! Our room was a good size, with a kitchen too, very clean, and we had no problem with noise either. The Thunderbird has character, and... more

My family stayed at this hotel in 2004 (only just found the Tripadvisor website) and can honestly say it's the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. Fortunately, we were only staying there for one night while we were waiting for our flight home. The hotel was grubby, the car park opposite was more like a bomb site, the staff not... more

We got married on miami beach and spent 5 nights in this hotel. At first we had a standard room, which we felt very insecure in... there was a sign on the balcony door to ensure we "bolt up" every night and on each side of the room were connecting doors to other rooms which didn't even have a lock.... more

We were expecting the worst from what i'd read on this site, so i'd like to put anyone's minds at ease if you're due to stay here. The hotel is nice, its not 5* but you get what you pay for. The hotel is right on the beach with a nice pool, and the S or K bus stops right... more
