i loved this hotel. it was my first trip to chicago, so i didn't know what to expect. upon walking in, i was amazed by the lobby. it was large and ornate. there was a dj spinning, since it was a friday night. the place was happening, and definitely my speed. the restaurant is to the left, which is a... more

Thought the hotel was great. Seemed a bit more individualistic than the W in San Fran, which I felt was a bit "cookie-cutter" trendy. The rooms are small, but then so are the rooms in most boutique hotels. But they contain everything you can need and are very well appointed. The complimentary Acura car service was a great idea and... more

I am a starwood preferred guest (means nothing at this property) and had the smallest room I have ever stayed at. The hotel is right next to the train so you get to hear that every few minutes. The staff was ok but there are so many other great places to stay in Chicago. Don't waste your time on this... more

Very dissapointed - my first room was the loudest I have ever stayed at - the railroad kept me up all night even though I was on the 14th floor Moved to a very slightly quieter room (there do not appear to be any rooms where the railroad isn't very loud) but had to sacrifice a lot of space and... more

Had a great stay the weekend of May 16-18. Great lobby vibe. Very nice Acura car service.. we did not use but the car staff was very friendly. He said it was free! Room was a Spectacular King and we had no complaints. Loved the iPod docking station and flat screen TV. Front desk staff, room service, wait staff at... more

As a business traveler, my criteria for selecting a hotel is location to my meeting, proximity to interesting local sites, and a Starwood property. I was happy that the W met these objectives. It's close to the Chicago office, a short walk to parks, museums, the lake, and shopping. It's not central to the Miracle Mile, but only about a... more

This hotel has a great location in the Chicago Loop, but it is VERY close to the tracks for the Chicago L (the elevated railroad, Chicago's version of a subway). All night, I could hear trains rattle past my window -- and I was on the 11th floor! It was way too loud, and I slept terribly. As others have... more

W Hotels are what happens when a bunch of marketing MBAs don't have enough to do, and so management poses a question: what DO cool, edgy, tech-savvy, young heroes with gobs of disposable cash want in a hotel? The apparent answer: puce and gray decor, young and edgy-looking desk help and mini-bars that offer baseball caps and "intimacy kits." Ah,... more

I booked the hotel through Hotwire, and was expecting a basic room. I got exactly what I expected--the smallest hotel room in the United States. The room I had (Room 1129) was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in some small rooms in Argentina and Europe. There was very little room between the... more

Booked a "Wonderful Room" for a one night stay for a business trip. The hotel's website states that a Wonderful Room is 253 sq. ft., with an oversize desk, glass door rainforest shower and luggage rack. Checked in at 5:30 PM Wednesday and was given one of the four rooms in the far corners of the floor. Walked into the... more
