We were in town on business, and couldn't resist the pleasure of Chicago as well, and stayed in a two queen suite. The full kitchen, stove with oven and dishwasher included, was terrific, the dining area and living space comfy, the bedroom and bath more than adequate. There were three ladies with PLENTY of room to share. The location to... more

A friend and I chose this hotel for a weekend getaway from a Travelzoo offer. Judging by the pictures on this website we decided to book. BOY were we wrong! The ENTIRE staff is rude and inconsiderate. Our room was filthy and run down. It looked nothing like the pictures. (see mine) Our airconditioning broke in the middle of the... more

We stayed one night at the Seneca in September 2008. We had paid attention to the deals on the internet and booked signicantly in advance for a $109 per night room rate for a king room. We arrived a little early for check in and our room was not ready so we checked our bags with the bellhop and went... more

We absolutely loved The Seneca! We arrived around 8:00am at Union Station and took a taxi to our hotel (10 mins max and $13 taxi with 2 people, $1 gas surcharge & tip). We arrived at the beautiful hotel and had them hold our luggage while we went out for the day – very friendly and courteous staff! When we... more

My friend and I stayed here just one night Sept. 2. Wished so much our time and budget allowed us a 2-3 night stay in Chicago, because this was a great room to come "home" to for the night and a great price from Travelocity. I booked the room, which was a basic 2-bed deluxe, the night before we left... more

I booked a huge 1 Bdrm suite through Travelzoo for $110/night, which included free wifi. Reviews had me "concerned" mainly about the condition of the rooms. But I must say the room was in great condition and HUGE! There was some wear and tear, but nothing that was worth noting. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Price - nothing... more

Wife and I booked this room (king bed apt/suite) through Expedia after reading the reviews on this web site. We only looked for a room that was reasonable, was in a good location, and didn't have thin walls. The Seneca not only met those standards, but surpassed them. The room was clean and large, front desk staff was friendly and... more

I stayed at the Seneca in June and had an unfortunate experience. My husband had a heart attack. I found this out around 5pm and immediately called the front desk saying I needed to check out immediately. When I went to the front desk to check out, I was informed by the front desk manager, Cory Steinberg that I would... more

Can't believe the last two reviews - what fussy people!!! We were delighted with the Seneca, incredibly good value for money, excellent location, good service, spacious room with comfortable bed, wonderful restaurant, comfortable sitting room and functional kitchen - the one gripe that I would support is that in the effort to update it the microwave takes up all the... more

There are lots of hotels like this in Europe.-- shabby yet clean rooms, extremely well located, family run with a caring staff and a fair price. Subract the family run, caring staff and sadly-- you have The Seneca. Here is the good and the bad. Good: Clean sheets, large rooms, great location for a fairly decent price. Bad: Indifferent and... more
