Had an 8 day assignment in Evanston. I booked The Margarita because of its relatively low price and convenient location. The rates were reasonable and the station very close by. But, The Margarita was much more than that. It has real character with antiques everywhere. My room on the top floor was very comfortable, sharing a bathroom was not a... more

Friendly. Clean. Quiet. Centrally located. Reasonable rates. Very accomodating. Within easy walking distance of food and shopping. Four of our family members, 2 adults and 2 teens, were there for our fifth family member's graduation from college. The clientele was mostly older folks. The hotel staff is super nice in that they listen and go out of their way to... more

This is a lovely hotel, right in the heart of Evaston. Customer service was great, and the place has lovely old world charm. Lots of old antique furniture, and a really nice breakfast room. The bedroom was fine, but it only had a mobile air-conditioning unit. This was somewhat noisy, and was just about adequate for late September. However, for... more

While living in Montreal, Quebec, I have accepted a job offer to work in the Chicago area. New to Chicago, I asked former collegues who used to live the area to give suggestions on where to relocate. Evanston was the unanimous choice. Then I used the TripAdvisor review section of hotel accommodation in the area and I find the previous... more

The inn was suggested by the bride's family for a weekend wedding stay. We found the staff to be pleasant, eager to help and informative; no bellhops. The inn is not handicap accessible. The large common room is bright and airy, a pleasant way to meet fellow travelers and enjoy coffee and light breakfast. Our room was small, but clean... more

I booked this hotel for an apartment-hunting trip to Evanston based primarily on the unique nature of the property and the low cost. The building itself is beautiful and charming, if aged, furnished with antiques. I stayed in a European style room, meaning a room with a shared bathroom, and was perfectly comfortable, though private rooms are available. The Inn... more

This European Inn is a step back in time and we found it peaceful and relaxing. They do not have the ammenities of a chain hotel but they offer something unique. It is truly beautiful and charming. The library was a wonderful place to read and the parlor was elegant! A close walk to the el or metra to head... more

Sadly the place has gone downhill since we last stayed a few years back. What was once charming is now dreary/outdated. For the price and the scant amenities -- no guest computer access, no cable TV, no air conditioning, a meager stale appearing "breakfast" -- you can do much, much better. If you want old world charm, try The Homestead... more

I wanted to go someplace nice for my anniversary with my husband. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk ignored us until we spoke up. She regailed us with "now is not a good time to check in" etc. We were mortified. The room was ok. A lot of floral, kind of musty feeling. The breakfast was... more

The inn is located in a quiet part of Evanston, within walking distance to a great coffee shop and wonderful restaurants. However, this is not the place for you if you want quiet and privacy. Also, this is not the place for you if there is a special event, or if you expect to be treated well if you are... more
