My wife went here for two night in August for a midweek trip. We were on the 23rd floor and had a good view of downtown detroit and Canada. The people mover was under renovation while we were there so we had to walk everywhere we wanted to go. My wife and I walked arond the GM exhibit downstairs which... more

We stayed at the Ren Cen for one night on July 26th. We were in town for a concert in the theatre district and were looking for something safe and close. The Ren Cen was perfect. Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We received a summer promo rate of $149 with a $25 Visa Gift Card included.... more

Let's see.... first there was the half-eaten bag of Cheez-Its we found sitting on the table in our room when we checked in... and the long, dark hair and black stains on on the bed sheets... and the cup rings on the table top... and the semi-clean bathroom. I'm not saying the room was FILTHY, but it had not been... more

I stayed at the Marriott for 2 nights, along with a large group visiting Detroit for an event. The room was nice, clean and a good size. The hotel's location in the Renaissance Center means that there is convenient access to the river, the People Mover, the Tube (a 2nd floor enclosed passage to the building center across the street)... more

The hotel is clean and comfortable and might be good for business travelers who have a conference at the hotel, cobo center, other work close by or if you were going to a Red Wings game but vacationing from here is extremely inconvenient. I get the feeling that downtown Detroit is improving but it still has a creepy deserted vibe... more

I used the opinions of travlers from Trip Advisor to stay at this downtown Detroit Marriott location. Good points- Great views- clean rooms- room service food quite good. Bad points- Horrible customer service from the valet attendants who were quite questionable in their appearance and demeanor... reminded me of recent parolees to most of the front desk staff. Most of... more

I got tickets to game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals – Detroit vs Pittsburgh, and quickly booked at the Marriott Renaissance Centre after deciding based once again on Trip Advisor. There isn’t much to do in the Detroit downtown core except for the many sporting events they have. There happened to be a Techno festival on so right by... more

The best feature about the hotel is the location, being centered downtown with close access to restaurants, bars, and Detroit baseball/football stadiums. Detroit PeopleMover was helpful, but stops at 11pm weeknights, and is not the purpose of this review. Listings show avg. rate being $139, whereas my rate (19th floor, "river view") was $140 AFTER a group discount. River view... more

When working in downtown Detroit, you can't beat this hotel for convenience. While there, you can take advantage of the many amenities the RenCen has to offer, namely food shops, shopping, Starbucks, movie theaters and a free showing of GM/s latest automobile models. While it is a nice hotel, you may find the rooms spartan compared to other Marriott hotels,... more
